Flashback: Toronto's Legendary PHANTOM Production Opened 26 Years Ago Today

Today BroadwayWorld Toronto is celebrating the anniversay of the now legendary Toronto production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA which starred Rebecca Caine as Christine and Colm Wilkinson in the title role. The production, which ran for a decade and holds the record as the longest running musical in Toronto helped revitalize a struggling Canadian theatre scene and resulted in a surge of Canadian produced musical theatre.

Tickets to THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in Toronto on Sale Monday

Cameron Mackintosh's spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will go on sale Monday September 21st for the Toronto engagement at the Princess of Wales Theatre. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA begins performances December 8th for a strictly limited engagement until January 23rd, 2016. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM is performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America.

Tickets to Portion of 2015-16 Broadway in Miami Season on Sale Today

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and Broadway Across America announced that tickets to four musicals out of its five-show 2015-2016 Broadway in Miami season will go on sale for the first time today, September 12, 2015, during the Center's ARTSLAUNCH2015. In partnership with the local arts community and presented by American Airlines, ARTSLAUNCH2015 will celebrate the Arsht Center's box office opening and the start of the South Florida arts season with a day full of fun, free activities for the community. THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA to Return to San Diego This October

Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group are delighted to announce that their spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will make its San Diego premiere at The San Diego Civic Theatre for two weeks October 7-18, 2015.

Just last night, Tony Award-nominee Montego Glover and Alex Finke and Alfie Boe joined the company of  Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's Les Miserables on Broadway. Glover succeeds Erika Henningsen as Fantine, while Finke (making her Broadway debut) replaces original cast member Samantha Hill. Boe takes over for Tony Award nominee Ramin Karimloo as Jean Valjean. Internationally-renowned performer Alfie Boe returns to Broadway to star as 'Jean Valjean' in Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new Broadway production of Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's Les Miserables, now in its second year at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). Boe begins performances in Les Miserables tonight, September 1.

Up on the Marquee: Andrew Lloyd Webber's SCHOOL OF ROCK

Andrew Lloyd Webber's newest musical, School of Rock, is starting the process of moving into the Winter Garden Theatre- the same theatre that Lloyd Webber's first long-running Broadway hit, CATS played. School of Rock begins previews there November 9, with an oepning night slated for December 6, 2015. Below, check out the new marquee!

Glover succeeds Erika Henningsen as Fantine, while Finke (making her Broadway debut) replaces original cast member Samantha Hill. Tony Award-nominee Montego Glover (Memphis) will assume the role of Fantine beginning Tuesday, September 1 in Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new Broadway production of Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's LES MISERABLES, now in its second year at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). She succeeds Erika Henningsen in the role.  Glover, who also received the Drama Desk and Outer Critics' Circle Awards for her acclaimed performance in Memphis, most recently co-starred on Broadway in the musical It Shoulda Been You.   Also on September 1, Alex Finke makes her Broadway debut in the role of Cosette, succeeding Samantha Hill.
