More than 400 opera aficionados and performers - including opera stars Harolyn Blackwell, Lauren Flanigan, Ailyn Perez, Diana Soviero, Teresa Stratas and surprise presenter Renee Fleming, were among those who attended the 12th Annual OPERA NEWS Awards at The Plaza Hotel last night.

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, will hold its annual Spring Benefit in support of its artistic programming and education and outreach initiatives at the Metropolitan Club, 1 E. 60th Street (at Fifth Avenue), on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Ask Celia Berk what she loves about New York and she'll give you a list. Or, better yet, an album. Corporate executive by day, cabaret chanteuse by night (and a damn good one), Berk has won a MAC Award (New York Debut – Female), a Bistro Award (Vocalist), a BWW Award (NY Cabaret Debut), and The Margaret Whiting Award from The Mabel Mercer Foundation since her 2014 debut album You Can't Rush Spring. Her latest, Manhattan Serenade, is an eclectic collection of New York and New York-esque songs steeped in nostalgia and romance, complete with arrangements by Alex Rybeck and a stunning orchestra. Vineyard Theatre's 2015-2016 season opens tonight, December 3, with the new musical comedy GIGANTIC at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).

 The Jewish Museum will present The Word: Spoken, Sung, and Played, a concert featuring acclaimed Israeli pianist Daniel Gortler with internationally renowned vocalists Lauren Flanigan (as narrator) and David Adam Moore (baritone) in a performance of Johannes Brahms's The Fair Magelone  (Die schone Magelone) on Thursday, December 10 at 7:30pm. During the second half of the program, soprano Lauren Flanigan will sing Luciano Berio's 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' from Epifanie with Daniel Gortler. This will be Ms. Flanigan's first public New York City performance since 2010 when she was diagnosed with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSHL). To conclude, Mr. Gortler, who has delighted audiences and critics with his concerts around the world and received praise for his technical mastery and musical ingenuity, will perform Franz Schubert's Three Piano Pieces for solo piano.

The York Theatre Company, and its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present three new works: The Sleeping Beauty that has book, music & lyrics by Benjamin P. Wenzelberg, Commanders-In-Chief written by P.J. Barry, and Cheer Wars with book & lyrics by Gordon Leary and music by Karlan Judd at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00.

LANCE HORNE, the Emmy Award winning composer, musician, vocalist and producer, will return to Birdland Jazz Club with a special new show on Monday, October 20 at 7:00 PM as part of the 'Broadway at Birdland' series. 'Lance & the Ladies' is a musical party celebrating not only Lance's birthday but his friendships with women and his love of the female voice.
