SAN DIEGO REPERTORY THEATRE kicks off the 2009-2010 Season with the whirlwind musical LONG STORY SHORT - written by Brendan Milburn and Valarie Vigoda of the band Groovelily - tonight, October 9th after a week of previews that began on October 3rd. The musical takes audiences on a journey through one couple's 50 year relationship.

The Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles has announced its lineup for the 2009-2010 DouglasPlus series, according to a report in the Los Angels Times.

Fierce passions flood through Phyllis Nagy's award-winning play, a visionary love story set in a remote, rain-swept village in the South of France. NEVER LAND'S exploration of love, loss, cultural dispossession and the abiding power of the human imagination moves from scabrous wit to heart-breaking tenderness as it charts the course of three fateful days in the lives of a singular French family that yearns to be English.

Three generations divided by race, culture and time connect when a white Southern woman discovers old love letters leading her to an African American half-brother.

ECLIPSED, presented by the Center Theatre Group and opened at Los Angeles' Kirk Douglas Theatre on Sept. 20th, narrates the daily routine of a group of "wives" (women who are raped and held captive as servants) of a rebel commanding officer in 2003 war-torn Liberia. There isn't much of a storyline. The plot loosely centers around a young, educated "Girl" (Miriam F. Glover) initially staying in the wives' quarters as a stowaway, who ends up being taken as wife Number Four.

SLEEPING BEAUTY WAKES, which unfolds entirely through song, reunites GrooveLily with Tony Award-winning librettist Rachel Sheinkin, perhaps best known for her book to The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. They previously collaborated on the inventive holiday tale STRIKING 12(inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Match Girl), which came to Edison Theatre in 2007.
