Steppenwolf to Feature 3 New Playwrights in Upcoming Season

Steppenwolf Theatre Company presents its 6th annual First Look Repertory of New Work-three developmental productions of new plays presented in rotating repertory playing October 27 - November 14, 2010 in Steppenwolf's Merle Reskin Garage Theatre, 1624 N. Halsted St. The 2010 festival will also include three free readings by emerging playwrights presented November 5-7, 2010. Tickets for all productions are currently on-sale.

The Route 66 Theatre Company Presents MCMEEKIN FINDS OUT 10/7-11/14

The Route 66 Theatre Company kicks off its 2010-2011 season with MCMEEKIN FINDS OUT, a new play by Scott T. Barsotti, directed by Damon Kiely. MCMEEKIN FINDS OUT features an all-star cast including Randy Steinmeyer, Kate Buddeke, Blair Robertson, Tyler Ross, Dane Halvorson and Danielle Brothers. MCMEEKIN FINDS OUT plays October 7 - November 14, 2010 in Richard Christiansen Theater, upstairs at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. The press opening is Friday, October 15 at 8 pm.

The House Theatre of Chicago Presents THIEVES LIKE US, Opens 9/19

The House Theatre of Chicago is thrilled to present the premiere of THIEVES LIKE US, opening September 19 at the Chopin Theatre (1543 W. Division St), with preview performances September 9-18. Developed in partnership with DePaul University, THIEVES LIKE US follows one man attempting to make his own morality during the Depression-era Dust Bowl while torn between the need to honor old loyalties and a chance at new love.

Redtwist Theatre's THE PILLOWMAN To Close 5/14

The Pillowman will be closing May 14, 2010. It previewed on November 17, 2009 and opened on November 21, 2009. It is Redtwist's longest-running show to date.

Non-Equity Jeff Awards Nominations Announced

The Jeff Awards have announced 105 nominations in 24 categories for Non-Equity Jeff Awards, which honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract, for productions that opened between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010. The Jeff Awards judged the opening nights of 116 productions offered by 55 non-Equity producing organizations and recommended 51 shows for further judging, making those 51 eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations in all categories.

When two estranged half-sisters discover what may be the 'crown jewel' of stamp collecting in their attic, they are thrust into a violent and deceptive battle with three rival collectors and soon find that more than money is at stake.
