National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced yesterday that Dallas Theater Center is one of 886 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. DTC is recommended for a $15,000 grant to support The Neighborhood Initiative.

Dallas Theater Center brings the world's greatest detective to the stage in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, written by Steven Dietz and directed by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. Dallas Theater Center Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty announced today the theater's 2014-2015 season, which will take place at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Kalita Humphreys Theater on Turtle Creek. DTC's 2014-2015 season will expand to nine total productions from this year's seven, and will include the world premiere new musical Stagger Lee, a commissioned musical by DTC Playwright-in-Residence Will Power and Justin Ellington, a rolling world premiere production of Colossal, a new play about football by Andrew Hinderaker, and the return to the stage of June Squibb for the first time since her Academy Award-nomination.

The Fortress of Solitude is based on the nationally best-selling novel of the same name by 2005 MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Lethem. Yesterday Dallas Theater Center hosted a celebration in honor of Project Discovery's recent recognition by The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Dallas Theater Center patrons donated $57,993.81 to the North Texas Food Bank during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. During the six-year partnership with NTFB, DTC patrons have donated $297,912.16 to the organization.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, announces new leadership of its board of directors and three new members. Diane Rodriguez, associate producer/director of new play production at Center Theatre Group, succeeds Phillip Himberg, producing artistic director of the Sundance Institute Theatre Program, as board president. Robert Hupp, producing artistic director of Arkansas Repertory Theatre, joins playwright Lydia. R. Diamond as joint vice presidents. Tim Jennings, managing director of Children's Theatre Company, succeeds Roche Schulfer, executive director of Goodman Theatre, as treasurer. Ralph Bryan, managing director-investments of Wells Fargo Advisors, remains as secretary.

Today Dallas Theater Center's Project Discovery program received the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from First Lady Michelle Obama. The award recognizes exemplary after-school and out-of-school time programs from across the country and is the highest national honor awarded to such programs. Project Discovery is one of 12 programs to receive the award this year.

Dallas Theater Center brings a brand new adaptation of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol to the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre at the AT&T Performing Arts Center for the first time. Dallas Theater Center has announced the regional premiere of Clybourne Park, running in rotating rep with A Raisin in the Sun, to launch the theater's 55th season. Clybourne Park will be directed by DTC Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell.
