Phoenix Art Museum Presents World Premiere of MEMLING by Kehinde Wiley thru 6/23

Phoenix Art Museum presents the world premier of a new series of paintings by acclaimed artist Kehinde Wiley (American, b. 1977). The exhibition, Kehinde Wiley: Memling, features eight never-before-exhibited paintings by Wiley, all portraits based on works by 15th-century Flemish master, Hans Memling. The new works are a significant departure from the large-scale, brilliantly-toned works that made Wiley famous. The exhibition, which is organized by Sara Cochran, Ph.D., curator of modern and contemporary art at Phoenix Art Museum, is on view through June 23, 2013, and includes a catalog of works.

Dior Homme Celebrates Miami Store Opening

Dior Homme celebrated the opening of its new Design District store on Wednesday night with a cocktail party at the Design District boutique. This was followed by the premiere of the Dior Homme-commissioned Bruce Weber film "Can I Make Music Fly?", which will play on the shop's walls.

CELLBLOCK I & CELLBLOCK II Exhibitions Postponed at Andrea Rosen Gallery

Andrea Rosen Gallery will be postponing the opening of its Cellblock I & Cellblock II exhibition, curated by Robert Hobbs, that was scheduled to open on November 3rd. At this stage, the gallery is hopeful to be back open in approximately two-to-three weeks' time. The gallery will send an updated announcement as it learns more information. In the meantime, Andrea Rosen Gallery's thoughts and best wishes go out to all who have been affected by the storm.

CELLBLOCK I & CELLBLOCK II Exhibitions Open at Andrea Rosen Gallery, 11/3

Andrea Rosen Gallery has announced Cellblock I and Cellblock II, two group exhibitions - both curated by Robert Hobbs -that are intertwined yet distinctly separate in their intention. The exhibitions open November 3, 2012 at the Gallery's main space at 525 West 24th Street, as well as inaugurating its new, second location, at 544 West 24th Street.

The Jewish Museum Announces Family Activities for Mondays in July

The Jewish Museum will present fun-filled family activities on Mondays in July celebrating the colorful paintings of artists Kehinde Wiley and Edouard Vuillard. Highlights include gallery tours with art activities on July 9, 16, 23 and 30; and a drop-in art workshop every Monday in July. These programs are FREE with museum admission.

Jewish Museum Presents POWER TO THE PORTRAIT FAMILY DAY, May 20

The Jewish Museum presents Power to the Portrait Family Day, a fun-filled multi-generational event celebrating the colorful worlds of artists Kehinde Wiley and Edouard Vuillard today, May 20 from 12 noon to 4 pm. Activities include two performances by Jukebox Radio, a huge drop-in art workshop, and self-guided family gallery hunts. The family day is inspired by The Jewish Museum's exhibitions, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel and Edouard Vuillard: A Painter and His Muses, 1890-1940. This event is free with Museum admission.

The Jewish Museum Presents TIMBALOOLOO WITH ORAN ETKIN Today, 5/6

The Jewish Museum presents Timbalooloo with Oran Etkin today, May 6 at 2:00 pm. Oran Etkin's whimsical concert for families blends global melodies and rhythms, from the music of Africa to klezmer and jazz. Etkin will play tunes from his 2010 album, Wake Up, Clarinet! and will create musical connections between Africa and Israel in conjunction with the Museum's current exhibition, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel. Etkin's interactive performance effortlessly conveys sophisticated concepts in a fun musical language that kids of all ages can understand.

The Jewish Museum to Present Kehinde Wiley in Conversation, 3/15

The Jewish Museum will present American painter Kehinde Wiley in conversation with Today Show contributor Lola Ogunnaike on Thursday, March 15 at 6:30 pm. Kehinde Wiley will discuss his latest series, The World Stage: Israel. On view at The Jewish Museum beginning March 9, this exhibition showcases vibrant large-scale portraits of Israeli youths, each embedded in a unique background inspired by Jewish ceremonial art, as well as works selected by Wiley from the Museum's collection.

Giant Kehinde Wiley Wallscape in Manhattan to Promote Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum, in conjunction with the opening of its exhibition, Kehinde Wiley/The World Stage: Israel, is trying something new. Its advertising agency, Our Man In Havana (OMIH), has conceived and is overseeing a hand-painted reproduction of a Kehinde Wiley painting as a giant wallscape on the northeast corner of Houston Street and Mott Street in Manhattan. A video documenting the installation will also be created and released online to generate additional awareness for the exhibition.
