Everyone knows Cinderella. As one of the Brothers Grimm's most retold tales, this story made its way through the years from the pages of books to the stage and screen. So, it may come as a surprise that, in 2013, after dozens of successful movies (several of them musicals) and a handful of star-studded touring productions of the same title, CINDERELLA finally opened its first Broadway production. Bringing the enchantment of this extraordinary rags-to-riches story of a young girl becoming a princess to life, CINDERELLA is a magical feast for kids of all ages.

Broadway's Tony Award-winning production of Cinderella (2013) has a brand new book by Douglas Carter Beane and an expanded score of the glorious music of Rodgers & Hammerstein. As the musical based on the fairy tale possesses a more contemporary storyline, both Cinderella (Paige Faure) and Prince Topher (Andy Huntington Jones) are different - they are orphans, whose similarities in character make them a perfect match. No more losing her Venetian glass slipper at the first act curtain, this Cinderella, with much help, love, support and encouragement from her fairy godmother (Kecia Lewis) is in control and journeys into the second act with a mission to make the 'Impossible' truly 'Possible'.
Sometimes a little retooling and freshening up of an old classic isn't such a bad thing. I mean I was a little dubious when I heard they were remounting the classic of "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" especially when I heard it was getting an all new book. But the tour of this new version still keeps all the magic and charm alive while adding in some humor and elements that just make the characters all the more rich and engaging.
