When ANNIE first opened on Broadway in 1977, it was filled with sage advice that the city needed to hear. New York City was teetering on the edge of perilous bankruptcy, but this plucky little orphan girl reminded audiences that there would always be a tomorrow worth waiting for. The 2012 revival of ANNIE opened in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, and as the nation braced itself for the possibility of another Great Depression like the one the spirited orphan smiles through with her beloved and well-known anthems, the themes of remaining cheerful and overcoming adversity struck a chord with audiences again. Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch, who stars in the hit FOX television show 'Glee' as ruthless cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, made her Broadway debut last month as tyrannical orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in Annie. Lynch will play Miss Hannigan for eight weeks only, through Sunday, July 14. The actress recently chatted with BroadwayWorld about making the move to New York for the show, sharing the stage with so many talented little girls, filling the big shoes of Katie Finneran, and so much more!

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) last night presented its Gala performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The cast recording of the 2012 Broadway revival of James Lapine's new production of ANNIE will feature three bonus tracks by Glee star and replacement Miss Hannigan Jane Lynch in addition to showcasing original revival Hannigan Katie Finneran.

The evening's festivities begin at 7:00pm and will include dinner, cocktails (including specialty cocktail "The Caroline McGraw" in honor of the 2013 P73 Playwriting Fellow) and the annual New Play Bake Off. Longtime Page 73 supporters Carson and Joseph Gleberman will be honored at this year's benefit.

Scheduled to join the production of ANNIE on Broadway TONIGHT, May 15th, GLEE star Jane Lynch instead tweeted last night 'I'M GOIN' ON!! Yeah, a day early. I'm making my damn Bway debut tonight. @ANNIEonBroadway'.

According to a casting notice for Columbia Pictures' upcoming reboot of ANNIE, production on the film will begin in August on location in New York City.

Lynch joins the production for eight weeks only, and according to the musical's official Twitter page, she will begin on May 15- one day sooner than previously announced.

Shout! Broadway has announced that the New 2012 Broadway Cast Recording for ANNIE is available for purchase at the Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway between 46th and 47th Streets), beginning tonight, May 7. The merchandise stand is open to the public one hour prior to performance. Digital release will be on Tuesday, May 28. The recording will be released to national retail outlets on Tuesday, July 2.

According to the Daily Mail, Samantha Mumba has just signed a $1 million deal to star in a Hollywood film musical. She revealed the news to friends at a launch party for Stacey Jackson's new album.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) is in talks to star opposite Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) in producers Will Smith and Jay-Z's film adaptation of Annie for Sony. Foxx would play 'Benjamin Stacks', the film's 'Daddy Warbucks' character.
