The gala honored Emmy Award-winning actress and activist Debra Messing ('Will & Grace,' Outside Mullingar) and trailblazing media executive, President of BBC Worldwide North America, Ann M. Sarnoff.

At its fourth annual Eight Over Eighty benefit gala The New Jewish Home will pay tribute to eight New Yorkers who, in their ninth and tenth decades, continue to live lives of remarkable achievement, vitality and civic engagement. The event, at the Mandarin Oriental New York on Tuesday, April 4, is expected to attract more than 450 guests and raise more than $1 million for the nonprofit's rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and home health care programs, which together serve 12,000 older adults of all faiths and ethnicities each year.

New York Stage and Film has announced that its annual Winter Gala will honor two titans of the entertainment industry: four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening and famed architect and Tony- and Emmy-winning scenic designer David Rockwell.

Norman Lear appeared 'live' via video hook up after the Gold Coast International Film Festival's screening of the documentary of his life, Just Another Version of You. Caroline Sorokoff director of the Film Festival interviewed Mr. Lear who was in LA. but his daughter NYC based Kate Lear was present to reminisce about 'life with father' at the talk back. After telling the packed audience at the Bow Tie Great Neck Squire Theater how much he loved his daughter Kate, Mr. Lear had some fascinating recollections to to share with director Sorokoff about his past and present career. Kate Lear is a writer, theater producer and arts advocate. She co-directs the Frances Lear Foundation and over the past decade has supported organizations working on behalf of disadvantaged youth, first amendment and voter protection rights, mental health advocacy and women's issues. It was a rare opportunity for the Long Island audience to see a definitive chronicle of Mr. Lear's life work and achievements. Famed documentarians Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing had seized the opportunity to fashion a dynamic portrait in their film, which matches the spirit of probably the most influential creator, writer and producer in television history. Mr. Lear's legendary 1970s shows such as All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, and The Jeffersons, boldly cracked open dialogue and shifted the national consciousness, injecting enlightened humanism into sociopolitical debates on race, class, creed, and feminism.

Caroline Sorokoff, director of the Gold Coast International Film Festival announced toady that there  a special screening of the new documentary NORMAN LEAR Just Another Version Of You  on Wednesday June 22 the Gold Coast International Film Festival is hosting a special screening of the dynamic new documentary Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You, followed by a Q&A with Mr. Lear's daughter, Kate Lear.

During the evening, Ballet Hispanico honored Ballet Hispanico Board President and President and COO of Palladium Equity Partners David Pérez and Milena Alberti-Pérez, SVP and Head of Global Corporate Finance at Penguin Random House, with the Civic Inspiration Award. Ben Rodriguez-Cubeñas, Chair of Ballet Hispanico's Leadership Council and program director for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, was honored with the Nuestra Inspiración Award. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the creation of new Company works, need-based financial aid and merit scholarships in the Ballet Hispanico School of Dance, and community arts education programs.
