Garsson established a reputation for bringing provocative, little known plays to Arts Garage in Delray Beach for a season and a half, before the theatre program was abruptly terminated by incoming, fledgling CEO Marjorie Waldo. Though he may have initially felt disappointed that he was not given enough time to establish his brand and develop a following at Arts Garage, Garsson simply regrouped and brought his vision and his company, Primal Forces, to Ft. Lauderdale.

Three Chicago Theaters Receive International Theatre Award for Gender Parity

The International Centre for Women Playwrights has announced the 2017 recipients of the 50/50 Applause Awards, including three theaters from Chicago. Northlight Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater and Windy City Playhouse were among 58 international recipients honored for producing 50 percent or more plays by women playwrights during the 2016/17 season.

People's Light is proud to announce Sanjit De Silva, James Ijames, Deepa Purohit, and Laura Schellhardt as the participating playwrights in the second round of the company's groundbreaking New Play Frontiers Residency & Commission program. The playwrights officially begin the program on July 9, 2017, in conjunction with the final performance of Project Dawn by Karen Hartman, the first New Play Frontiers play to premiere at People's Light. This second round of residencies and commissions, along with the production of Project Dawn, are made possible in part by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
