Hamish Linklater's THE VANDAL Will Be Filmed for Broadcast

The Flea has announced that Thirteen WNET will be filming the critically acclaimed production of THE VANDAL on March 29. A broadcast date has not been slated. Written by actor Hamish Linklater (School for Lies, Twelfth Night, Recent Tragic Events & The Busy World is Hushed, and TV's The New Adventures of Old Christine), The Vandal runs through March 31. It is directed by Flea Artistic Director Jim Simpson starring Zach Grenier, Deidre O'Connell, and Noah Robbins.

The Flea Theater Presents UNEXPLORED INTERIOR, 4/8

The Flea Theater has announced a unique collaboration between The Museum of Jewish Heritage, The Public Theater, The Flea Theater, and individuals, Luna Kaufman, Emmanuel Ruranga, M.S. L.P.C., Daniel Neiden and Erika Feldman. In commemoration of the 19th anniversary of the start of the Rwandan genocide, the group will produce a one time only public reading performance of a new play by Jay O. Sanders.

THE VANDAL by Hamish Linklater Returns to The Flea, 3/22-31

Due to popular demand, The Flea Theater has announced that Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut THE VANDAL will return for a limited 2 weekend run beginning March 22. The play stars Deirdre O'Connell, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, with direction by Jim Simpson, The Flea's founder and Artistic Director.

Arthur Yorinks' AMERICAN SONG Continues at The Flea in April

The Flea Theater in association with Four Arts Media will present the next 4 plays of the AMERICAN SONG 13 play series. Following the previous four plays that brought us from the turn of the century to 1939, the upcoming presentations forge ahead through World War II and end after the cultural and political upheavals of the 1960s.

The Flea Premieres WHITE HOT by Tommy Smith, Beginning 4/26

Playwright Tommy Smith returns to The Flea and once again brings you to the brink with the New York Premiere of WHITE HOT. In her directorial debut, the production will be helmed by Flea Resident Director Courtney Ulrich starring The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. Previews begin April 26 with opening night slated for May 7.

The Flea Theater Presents Tommy Smiths' NECTARINE EP, Now thru 2/17

The Flea goes audio with the upcoming workshop production of Tommy Smith's NECTARINE EP. A sonic reverberation of Homer's The Odyssey - filtered through the lens of downtown artist Tommy Smith - the audio-fueled 'extended play', NECTARINE EP, de-stimulates the audience's perception through visual and auditory manipulation. This experimental production is both written and directed by Tommy Smith and features The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. (PLEASE NOTE: This production is not open for review.)

The Flea Theater will extend the production of THE VANDAL through March 3. Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut, directed by Jim Simpson and starring Deirdre O'Connell, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, opened January 31.

The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of The Vandal by Hamish Linklater. Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Deirdre O'Connell has replaced Holly Hunter in her role. This limited Off-Broadway engagement begins previews tonight, January 18 with opening slated for January 31. ANIMALS To Be Honored With The First Annual Tom Murrin Performance Award, 2/8

Ellie Covan, Founder & Artistic Director of Dixon Place, announced today that the NYC performance company ANIMALS will be awarded the First Annual Tom Murrin Performance Award on Friday, February 8th at 9pm at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). The award has been created to honor and celebrate the life and work of Tom Murrin (aka the Alien Comic) by providing a transformative career opportunity to an emerging artist, selected by a distinguished panel of producers, artistic directors and artists.

The Flea Presents THE SHAKES: ROMEO & JULIET, 1/31-3/2

The Flea Theater will continue it's tradition of late-night offerings with The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet. Five teams of actors helmed by five Flea Resident Directors each perform an act from Shakespeare's most tragic love story. Cast from The Flea resident acting company, The Bats, Romeo and Juliet follows the inaugural Shakes, The Honest Whore by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton. The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet will be performed in one-act installments until the play is complete.

Peggy Shaw Returns to the Stage in RUFF at PS122's COIL Festival, Now thru 1/19

Legendary actor, producer and playwright Peggy Shaw triumphantly returns to the stage in the world premiere of Ruff. Presented by Performance Space 122 (PS122) and Dixon Place as part of PS122's eighth annual COIL festival, Ruff pays tribute to the host of crooners, lounge singers, movie stars, rock and roll bands and eccentric family members who have kept Shaw company, living inside her, for the past 68 years. Guided by longtime collaborator Lois Weaver, Shaw throws off the stigma of age and embraces the joy-and necessity-of creating new work, post-stroke, aided by new technology and even deeper courage. Shaw is the recipient of the 2011 Ethyl Eichelberger award.

Thomas Bradshaw's JOB Premiere Returns to The Flea, Now thru 1/28

After a sold out run and extension, The Flea Theater announces yet another extension of the New York premiere production of JOB, written by Thomas Bradshaw and directed by Flea Resident Director Benjamin Kamine. A popular and critical success, JOB now will return and play tonight, January 4 through 28.
