Albee-Inspired MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL Begins Tonight at The Flea

Slightly Altered States Theater Company presents the World Premiere of MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, an absurdist comedy by Sari Caine, directed by Sherri Eden Barber. Inspired by Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the play was a PlayPenn 2013 semi-finalist and short-listed for both the 24/7 (UK) and the Ronald Duncan Award (UK). Previews begin tonight, September 12 at The Flea Theater with opening slated for Monday, September 22.

Billy Magnussen Joins Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce for A SONG AT TWILIGHT Reading

Billy Magnussen joins his previously announced chums - Kristine Nielsen, David Hyde Pierce and Sigourney Weaver - for a reading of Noel Coward's A SONG AT TWILIGHT. The VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE friends are reuniting for a benefit performance to kick off the 2014/2015 season of The Flea Theater. The performance will take place on Monday, September 15. A cocktail reception begins at 6 pm followed by the reading at 7pm and then a talkback with the actors. Flea Artistic Director, Jim Simpson directs the event at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center (199 Chambers St).

WRITTEN IN THE SAND Begins 10/2 at Baruch Performing Arts Center

Karen Finley, a name synonymous with performance art, will present the New York premiere of her new work WRITTEN IN THE SAND at Baruch Performing Arts Center on beginning October 2. WRITTEN IN THE SAND includes performance pieces and writings on AIDS Finley wrote between 1983 and 1994, many performed publicly for the first time. Opening night, October 2, is a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Tickets for opening night are $40 and include a champagne afterparty with Ms. Finley; the remaining dates are $30 (students and seniors $20 at the box office only). CUZ I JUST GOT TO BE ME...FREE Begins Tonight at Dixon Place

Dixon Place presents new work every month -- theater, puppetry, performance and visual art, music, dance and literature -- at all stages of development. This Fall, Dixon Place will present new-works-in-progress written and performed by current Artist-in-Residence David Cale. On Thursday evenings this month -- September 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th at 7:30pm -- Cuz I Just Got To Be Me...Free, a series of workshop performances that feature unfettered new songs, monologues and stories -- each evening a different 45-minute set -- will be performed in The Dixon Place Lounge.

Kathryn Rossetter to Join Adam LeFevre in MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, Begin. 9/12

Kathryn Rossetter, who appeared on Broadway opposite Dustin Hoffman in Death Of a Salesman and is currently head of the MFA Acting Program at the New School for Drama, will join Adam LeFevre (Broadway's Footloose, Mamma Mia, Guys and Dolls) in the World Premiere of MR. LANDING TAKES A FALL, an absurdist comedy by Sari Caine. Inspired by Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the play was a PlayPenn 2013 semi-finalist and short-listed for both the 24/7 (UK) and the Ronald Duncan Award (UK). CREATURES OF HABIT World Premiere to Play Dixon Place, 10/3-18

Dixon Place will present a world premiere of Creatures of Habit, choreographed by Jonathan Royse Windham to original music composed by Daniel Kazemi. Mr. Windham was recently named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch." Creatures of Habit will play for three weekends beginning Friday, October 3rd through Saturday, October 18th. Stew, Nancy Giles, Ted Keegan & More Set for SUPPER AT THE SALON at Dixon Place, 9/15

Dixon Place, Ellie Covan, founder and artistic director, proudly announces SUPPER AT THE SALON, a special evening of dinner and entertainment which will take place on the mainstage theater at Dixon Place on Monday, September 15th, with cocktails beginning in the lounge at 6:30 PM. The evening will include performances by Stew (Passing Strange), Nancy Giles ('CBS Sunday Morning'), Broadway's Ted Keegan (Phantom of the Opera, Cyrano, Camelot), award-winning aerial troupe LAVA, and more to be announced, and will be hosted by Bindlestiff Family Cirkus founder, Keith Nelson. Also that evening, four honorees will receive the iconic Dixon Place mini chair award for their contributions to the arts and support of Dixon Place: award winning actor-writer Peggy Shaw; The Jerome Foundation, celebrating its 50th Anniversary; Dixon Place Board member Eric Jensen, and theater supporter Yoshiko Kakuga.

Previews begin tonight, August 22 with opening slated for September 7. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, 'where 50 Shades of Grey dances on the surface of BDSM, Smoke cuts to the core.

Joshua Cohen Named New General Manager of The Flea Theater

The Flea Theater has announced the addition of two key members to the small but mighty Flea team. Joshua Cohen comes to The Flea following seven years at Roundabout Theatre Company, where he rose to the position of Manager for Financial Reporting.
