Rent, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical about love, friendship and community starring original Broadway cast members Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Gwen Stewart, will play Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre March 25-29, 2009. Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Gwen Stewart will reprise the roles they originated on Broadway in RENT, The Broadway Tour, which comes to Tempe's ASU Gammage, March 17-22, 2009. Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Gwen Stewart originated the roles of Roger Davis, Mark Cohen and 'Seasons of Love' soloist, respectively, at New York Theatre Workshop and on Broadway. Justin Johnston (Angel), Michael McElroy (Collins) - who are also in the touring show -and Stewart were all members of the final company of RENT which played its last performance on Broadway September 7, 2008. Adam Pascal received Obie and Theatre World awards and Tony and Drama Desk nominations for best actor for RENT. On Broadway he also originated the role of Radames in the hit musical Aida and starred as the Emcee in the long-running revival of Cabaret. His film credits include Rent, School of Rock, SLC Punk!, Temptation and Goyband. An actor since the age of six, Anthony Rapp has appeared on Broadway in Precious Sons (Outer Critics Circle Award), Six Degrees of Separation, and the revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. His films include Adventures in Babysitting, School Ties, Dazed and Confused, Six Degrees of Separation, David Searching, Man of the Century, Road Trip, A Beautiful Mind, Open House, Winter Passing, Danny Roane: First Time Director and Scaring the Fish. His book, Without You: a Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent, about his experiences on and offstage, was published in 2006 by Simon & Schuster and became a national bestseller.

Friends and colleagues including Bruce Vilanch, Valarie Pettiford, Rachel York, Rita McKenzie, Carole Cook, Thom Troupe, Kathryn Jootsen, Lily Tomlin, Florence Henderson, Donna Mills, Jackie Joseph, Channing Chase, Tippi Hedren, JoAnne Worley, Kate Linder and the Los Angeles cast of RENT among others were more than thrilled to turn out for this special engagement of 'The First 80 Years are the Hardest,' that marked Carol Channing's return to the stage after her accident last year that forced her, for the very first time in her 70 year career, to cancel all scheduled performances.

Broadway In Chicago is thrilled to present the Chicago engagement of RENT, produced by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, and Allan S. Gordon, for a limited engagement March 31 to April 12, 2009. Adam Pascal has been out of RENT - The Broadway Tour and due to a herniated disc, he was unable to perform in the Detroit engagement. There's good news for Pascal fans in California though, he'll be back in the show on February 26 when the show plays the Pantages Theatre for a 2 week run through March 8.

The 'RENT: Filmed Live on Broadway' DVD release party was held at Life Cafe on February 2nd, 2009 in New York City. 'RENT' stars Renee Elise Goldsberry, Andrea Goss, Tracy McDowell, Rodney Hicks, Jay Wilkison and Adam Kantor attended the event and BWW joined in on all the action.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release RENT: Filmed Live on Broadway on Blu-ray DiscTM and DVD on February 3, 2009. The ground breaking Pulitzer and Tony? Award-winning musical thrived for an impressive 12 years on Broadway, and on Sunday, September 7, 2008, Sony Pictures Releasing's new alternative programming division THE HOT TICKET was there to capture the final Broadway performance.
