AUBREY DAN, President, Dancap Productions Inc., today announced Dancap's 2011 Subscription Series featuring the Canadian premiere of five new musicals direct from Broadway, and the return of The Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC.

John Douglas Thompson is playing the title role in Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth in Theatre for a New Audience's final and fourth show of its 31st Season. Directed by Arin Arbus, this production reunites Ms. Arbus and Mr. Thompson whom she directed in the title role of Othello two seasons ago. Mr. Thompson won OBIE and Lucille Lortel awards for his performance. Macbeth features Annika Boras as Lady Macbeth, Albert Jones (Theatre for a New Audience's Pericles and Oroonoko) as Macduff and Graham Winton (Theatre for a New Audience's Don Juan, Julius Caesar, Pericles, Othello and Measure for Measure) as Banquo. Macbeth begins previews Saturday, March 12 at 8:00pm, opens Sunday, March 20 at 7:00pm, and runs through Thursday, April 21 at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, 229 West 42nd Street. THE ADDAMS FAMILY welcomes five new principal cast members beginning Tuesday, March 8 at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street) when Heidi Blickenstaff ([title of show]) assumes the role of Alice Beineke, Adam Grupper (Brighton Beach Memoirs) as Mal Beineke, Brad Oscar (Tony-nominated for The Producers) as Fester, Rachel Potter (Wicked nat'l. tour) as Wednesday Addams and Jesse Swenson (Spring Awakening) as Lucas Beineke. Original cast members Nathan Lane, Kevin Chamberlin, Terrence Mann, Carolee Carmello, Krysta Rodriguez and Wesley Taylor will give their final performances on Sunday, March 6.

No full schedules, dates or casts have been announced formally or informally for any tours other than kickoff dates for three of them. Of the four, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET (to kick off October 2011 in Cleveland), MEMPHIS (to kick off a tour at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis) and THE ADDAMS FAMILY (to kick off September, 2011 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts in New Orleans, LA.) have announced tours to begin in 2011-2012.

Roger Rees, a Tony Award winner as Best Actor for The Life And Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby and a Tony nominee for Indiscretions, will assume the role of Gomez in THE ADDAMS FAMILY on Broadway beginning Tuesday, March 22 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Rees will reunite with his good friend and longtime professional colleague, two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth, who will continue in the role of Morticia. Nathan Lane's final performance as Gomez in THE ADDAMS FAMILY will be Sunday, March 6.

Winners of Drama Desk Awards for the 2009/2010 New York theater season received their engraved trophies at a cocktail reception in their honor last week at Il Punto Ristorante. BroadwayWorld was on hand and brings you photo coverage of the trophy ceremony below.

Nine theater artists will be honored by the Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee during the presentation of its 46th Annual Awards in a luncheon ceremony this fall. Eighty-one theater artists were nominated for outstanding artistry in 46 productions presented during the 2009-2010 New York theater season. Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz announced Theatre for a New Audience will dedicate its 31st season to two literary giants. The season is three parts Shakespeare and one part Dostoevsky: an original adaptation of Dostoevsky's novella Notes from Underground, Shakespeare's late romance Cymbeline, the dark comedy The Merchant of Venice and the tragedy Macbeth.
