Politicians, journalists and celebrities arrived for the 2009 White House Correspondents' Dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 9th, 2009.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced additional casting today for the Shakespeare in the Park production of TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by Daniel Sullivan. Herb Foster will play Valentine; Kevin Kelly will play Sea Captain; Tony nominee Stark Sands will play Sebastian; Baylen Thomas will play Curio; Jon Patrick Walker will play Fabian; and Tony Award winner Julie White will play Maria. TWELFTH NIGHT will feature original music by symphonic folk-rock band Hem.

At its annual awards ceremony GLAAD recognized Prop 8: The Musical, a video created for FunnyorDie.com in response to the passage of Proposition 8, a California ballot initiative which eliminated the right to marry for same-sex couples. Directed by Adam Shankman and written by Marc Shaiman, the video received over one million hits on its first day online. During the show, Miss Coco Peru and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles performed the song live onstage. Shankman accepted the award on behalf of the team of creators.

NIGHT SKY, a play by Susan Yankowitz about a brilliant astronomer who loses her ability to speak, will be presented Off-Broadway this spring with previews beginning May 22 prior to its official opening June 2 in the Rose Nagelberg Theatre at the Baruch Performing Arts Center (55 Lexington Ave.) in Manhattan.

The Public Theater announced initial casting today for the Shakespeare in the Park production of TWELFTH NIGHT, directed by Daniel Sullivan and featuring the previously announced Anne Hathaway as Viola. TWELFTH NIGHT will run June 10-July 12 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park with an official press opening on Thursday, June 25 at 8 p.m. Bank of America will return as lead sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park 2009.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards will reunite in a multi-episode storyline of the HBO series, 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' which is written by and stars 'Seinfeld' creator Larry David.

Wanda Sykes, Emmy winning entertainer and one of the country's premiere comedians, is coming to the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway on March 19th. Wanda Sykes has been called one of the funniest stand up comics by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America. Sykes currently can be seen on the CBS comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and was a writer and performer on HBO's The Chris Rock Show for five years where she was nominated for three Emmy awards and in 1999 won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Special.

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) announced the winners of the 2009 Writers Guild Awards for outstanding achievement in writing for screen, television, radio, news, promotional, and videogame writing at simultaneous ceremonies at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and the Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City.

In the '70s Joan wrote the TV-movie The Girl Most Likely To (starring Stockard Channing) and then wrote and directed her first feature film Rabbit Test, casting Billy Crystal in the lead. In 1983 Joan became the permanent guest host on 'The Tonight Show.' Later, she headlined in Las Vegas, sold out Carnegie Hall, produced a Grammy nominated comedy album, and wrote two best-selling books. In 1989 the Tribune Corporation launched Joan in her own syndicated daytime talk show. She won an Emmy and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1994 she wrote and starred on Broadway in Sally Marr and Her Escorts, for which she received a Best Actress Tony nomination. Since then, Joan has written three more best-selling books, maintains her own jewelry line on QVC, provided fashion commentaries for E! and The TV Guide Channel, and filmed a special for Bravo. Currently, she has two new books on sale (Men Are Stupid . . . And They Like Big Boobs: A Woman's Guide to Beauty Through Plastic Surgery and Murder at the Academy Awards). Last night, September 21st 2008 the 60th Annual Emmy Awards were presented at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Theater stars Jeremy Piven, Dianne Wiest, Cynthia Nixon, Dame Eileen Atkins, Laura Linney, Alec Baldwin, Glenn Close and Zeljko Ivanek were among the winners.
