As theater fans eagerly await the much talked about movie adaptation of GYPSY, starring Barbra Streisand in the iconic role of Mamma Rose, the project has suffered another setback, according to Deadline.

Since Ryan Murphy nabbed the stage rights to FUNNY GIRL last year, there has been virtual radio silence on whether the show -- ideally a star vehicle for Lea Michele -- will ever appear on Broadway. During a panel at EW Fest over the weekend, Murphy finally commented on the project.

After critically lauded shows in New York, London and Paris, award-winning performer Eric Yves Garcia (Margaret Whiting Award; Bistro Award for Singing Instrumentalist) debuts his new show, 'Pour Spirits', on Thursday, November 5th at The Metropolitan Room.

It seems I've heard that song before . . . the co-hosts begin, warming the room.

An Equity staged reading of PRESENTING ETHEL MERMAN, a new play with music tracing the ups and downs of the famed Broadway star affectionately known as 'the Merm', is being held today, October 13, in a private presentation for industry producers and insiders.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, plans have been underway for the BBC to film the London production of Gypsy this month, and now the news is official. According to the theatre's official Facebook page, equipment is in place to record the show for a later broadcast .
