BROADWAY BACKWARDS, the once-a-year celebration of the LGBT community, brought down the house Monday while raising a record-setting $347,060 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. This year's total surpassed the previous record of $329,000, set last year. Check out highlights from the special event below!

This year's star-studded BROADWAY BACKWARDS took place last night, March 18, 2013 at the Palace Theater (1564 Broadway). BROADWAY BACKWARDS is a one-night-only performance produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefiting BC/EFA and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York. Now in its eighth year, BROADWAY BACKWARDS is an annual celebration where gays and lesbians see their stories onstage, told through the great songs of musical theatre, sung by their favorite Broadway performers. An extremely limited number of $20 rush tickets to this year's star-studded BROADWAY BACKWARDS will be released for sale at 6:30 PM Monday, March 18, 2013. The rush tickets will be sold in the lobby of the Palace Theater (1564 Broadway). They will not be available at the box office. Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, cash only and are limited to two tickets per person. The show begins at 8 PM.

The Collegiate Chorale announces Song of Norway by Robert Wright and George Forrest on April 30, 2013 at 6:30pm at Carnegie Hall, 881 7th Avenue, NYC. Tickets are on sale at www.carnegiehall.org. Single tickets for this concert start at $25.

NEW YORK FESTIVAL OF SONG celebrates its 25-year history with a SILVER ANNIVERSARY GALA on Monday, April 8 at 7:00PM at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, followed by an elegant supper at the '21' Club.

The company of this year's BROADWAY BACKWARDS will now include five-time Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell, four-time Tony nominee and five-time Emmy nominee Victor Garber, Tony nominees Malcolm Gets, Chad Kimball and Josh Young, five-time Emmy Award winner Doris Roberts and teenage spoken word sensation Noah St. John.

The producers of the Tony-winning hit musical comedy NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT have announced that two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick has extended his run in the production and will now perform through June 15th. His co-star four-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara will play her final performance on March 31st. Tony Award nominee Jessie Mueller will join the show in the role of 'Billie Bendix' on April 2nd.

A production source tells BroadwayWorld.com that The Mystery of Edwin Drood's Jessie Mueller will take over the role of 'Billie Bendix' opposite Matthew Broderick in Nice Work If You Can Get It. She begins performances in the role on April 2, after current star Kelli O'Hara departs on March 31 to join Playwrights Horizons' Far From Heaven. Two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick continues as 'Jimmy Winter' in NICE WORK through June 15.

Broadway and Bucks County Playhouse Producing Director Jed Bernstein will be recognized at The Media Theatre Gala on Saturday February 23 for his contribution to the American theatre. He will receive the 2013 Achievement in The Theatre Award during the evening's pre-show ceremony, which will culminate with a performance by Broadway star Justin Guarini.

BroadwayWorld.com has just learned the sad news that Kevin Gray, who most recently was seen in New York at the 25th Anniversary Gala for The Phantom of the Opera, passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night at the young age of 55. Gray leaves behind his wife, Dodie Pettit, who he met while starring in Broadway's Phantom.

The Outside the Box season finale finds Adrian Zmed (Children of Eden, Grease 2, Grease on Broadway, T.J. Hooker) asked to do a new musical. What's the new musical? Will he accept the role? Yesterday, January 31, the eve of the 10(th) National Wear Red Day, Go Red For Womenis hosting a lighting ceremony at Macy's Herald Square in New York City - the first iconic building to turn red. Macy's is a founding national sponsor of Go Red For Women and has raised $40 million to support the cause since 2004. STOMP, the international sensation and long running New York stage hit, will join with The American Heart Association's Go Red For Women this week to ask America to go RED in celebration of the 10th National Wear Red Day on February 1, 2013. Women have been fighting heart disease - the No. 1 killer of women - both individually and together as part of the Go Red For Women movement for 10 years. To date, more than 627,000 women's lives have been saved, but the fight is far from over. Women need the right information, education and care, in order to treat, prevent, and even end heart disease.
