The American Theatre Wing (William Ivey Long, Chair; Heather Hitchens, Executive Director) announced today that its annual gala, held last night at the Plaza Hotel, was the most successful in the organization's history, raising nearly $700,000 (besting the previous record, which was set in 2012, by approximately $100,000). All proceeds from the evening will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing, which include SpringboardNYC, the Theatre Intern Group, the National Theatre Company Grants and the Jonathan Larson Grants, and will also support free access for students, aspiring professionals, and the general public to programming on AmericanTheatreWing.org, including the long running television show 'Working in the Theatre.'

Danforth) has announced their Fall 2013 Programming Schedule of special performances, events and educational offerings at the new Drama League Theater Center in Tribeca and elsewhere. Highlights include intimate evenings with Tony Award winners Laura Benanti, Cherry Jones and Judy Kaye, plus actor Tony Danza. Theatre journalistPeter Filichia will take a look at 'Strippers, Showgirls and Sharks,' and conductor/composer David Friedman will discuss 'Conducting Disney,' and more.

Schlatter, starring Donald Corren (Souvenir, Old Jews Telling Jokes) whom The New York Times calls 'a chameleonic wonder' as part of this summer's New York International Fringe Festival. Performances begin tonight, August 9th (playing through August 25th) at The Players Theatre (115 MacDougal Street). Michael Schwartz directs.

Billy Porter, 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Actor in a Musical (Kinky Boots) surprised students of Broadway Artists Alliance Summer Intensive Session One with his appearance on July 25th. Porter entertained the students with tales of his experiences. In addition, he participated in a Q&A, answering student's questions and providing advice for young performers. Tony Award winner Gabriel Ebert visited students at Broadway Artists Alliance Alumni Session to share his journey from young actor to Tony Award Winner. Tonight, June 19, 2013 at 7:00 PM, two time Tony Award Winning Broadway & Opera Star, Judy Kaye, currently featured as Duchess Estonia Dulworth in Broadway's Nice Work If You Can Get It, sings a solo cabaret act in an intimate Tribeca penthouse with panoramic views of the Hudson River. On the piano will be Dennis Buck, accompanist and collaborator for Jerry Herman, Julie Wilson, Eartha Kitt, K.T. Sullivan, Lucie Arnaz and dozens of other stars.

The producers of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It have announced that the Broadway production will play its final performance today, June 15, 2013 after 27 previews and 478 regular performances at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). The production began performances on March 29, 2012 and opened on Apr 24, 2012. A national tour will be launched in the 2014-2015 season.

On Thursday, June 13, Inside Broadway partnered with Nice Work if You Can Get It at Broadway's Imperial Theatre, where thousands of NYC public school students visited for two exclusive 'Creating the Magic' events. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy starring two-time Tony Award-winner Matthew Broderick and Tony Award nominee Jessie Mueller, is now in its final two weeks of performances on Broadway. The final performance will be Saturday, June 15. NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT features music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro, and is directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall.
