In Marsalis Well-Tempered, saxophonist Branford Marsalis, most commonly known for his work in jazz, tackles baroque oboe concertos on the soprano saxophone backed by a world-class chamber orchestra in two exciting programs, each on a different day, at Harris Center for the Arts. Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO)'s 45th season concludes with a veritable piano 'festival' as Jeremy Denk, 'a pianist you want to hear no matter what he performs' (The New York Times), returns for a command performance on Saturday, May 17, 2014, 8 pm, at Glendale's Alex Theatre, and Sunday, May 18, 2014, 7 pm, at UCLA's Royce Hall. Denk, artistic director of the 2014 Ojai Music Festival, is featured on selections from Ligeti's Etudes for Piano, Book I & II, as well as Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C major. From the keyboard, LACO Music Director Jeffrey Kahane, an acclaimed pianist, conducts Bach's Concerto No. 2 in C major for Two Keyboards, and Mozart's Concerto No. 10 in E-flat major for Two Pianos. He is joined by 12-year-old prodigy Ray Ushikubo for the Bach and LA Phil Keyboardist Joanne Pearce Martin for the Mozart.

Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's evocative and balletic 3rd Orchestral Suite was originally intended as a symphony, but he was also very pleased with it as a suite. Honoring Rachmaninoff's 140th anniversary, Chen has been touring worldwide performing programs dedicated to the composer. He is the first pianist to perform Rachmaninoff's three Nocturnes in Asia and California, USA. His 2014 world tour will include in Greater China, performing concertos with orchestras as well as solo recitals.

The Utah Symphony will make a rare visit to Utah County for a performance at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre in Orem tonight, June 25 @ 8pm. The concert, called "Under the Stars…and the Stripes" features a program full of patriotic and pop favorites. General admission tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children (age 3-11), students (w/ID) and seniors (age 65+). Patrons can bring a blanket or rent a chair for $1.00. Reserved seating areas with a chair range from $14-20.
