New York City Opera kicks off a new year and a new era of city-wide productions with LA TRAVIATA at the Brooklyn Academy of Music from Feb. 12-18. The Jonathan Miller production of Verdi's masterpiece is the season's first NYC Opera staging at BAM, and is followed by the US premiere performances of Rufus Wainwright's Prima Donna from Feb. 19-25. As a gift to the City of New York, The Reed Foundation and The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation have bought the remaining seats for all NYC Opera performances at BAM and will offer these seats at a special $25 price to celebrate NYC Opera's new beginning.

The Nineteenth Century Club will present the acclaimed Avalon Strings in a performance of Beethoven's 'Song of Heavenly Thanks,' Wednesday, Feb 3 at 3PM. 178 N. Forest Avenue, Oak Park.

In a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, stage and screen star Kavin Spacey chatted about his most recent project- RICHARD III, which opened at London's Old Vic Theatre and will soon open at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Spacey told the WSJ: 'If there was one play that we really, really didn't want to f- up, this was it.'

Between visits by a rent boy and a biographer-whom Auden briefly mistakes for the rent boy-these aging artists wrestle with their desires, their jealousies, the ephemeral connection between creativity and inspiration, and all the reasons their friendship fell apart.

RSC Associate Director Roxana Silbert is directing a new production of Shakespeare's Measure for Measure in the Swan Theatre as part of the Winter Season. The play previews from 17 November 2011 and runs in repertoire in the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon until 10 March 2012.

SHN is delighted to announce the arrival of RICHARD III by William Shakespeare, featuring Kevin Spacey and directed by Sam Mendes, coming to San Francisco this Fall. The Curran Theatre is the only U.S venue, other than BAM in New York, to host this landmark event. Tickets for RICHARD III go on public sale Friday, August 19.

Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the recent renovation of the company's home, the David H. Koch Theater, the concert series expands the repertoire and programming of City Opera and casts new light on the season's productions.

The full company is announced for the final season of The Bridge Project featuring Kevin Spacey, artistic director of The Old Vic, in the title role of Richard III. The Bridge Project will open at The Old Vic in London on June 29, 2011 and then embark on an international tour including the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Spain's Centro Niemeyer, Hong Kong Arts Festival, and Singapore Repertory Theatre, arriving at BAM's Harvey Theater in New York in January 2012. Lucy Cohu (Julia), Diana Hardcastle (Edna), Ian McElhinney (Harry), Imelda Staunton (Claire) and Tim Pigott-Smith (Tobias) will join the previously announced Penelope Wilton (Agnes) in Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance, directed by James Macdonald which will run at the Almeida Theatre from 5 May - 2 July, with press night on 12 May 2011. A Delicate Balance will be designed by Laura Hopkins with lighting by Guy Hoare and sound by Ian Dickinson.
