Dan Berg and The Gestalt Releases MANIFESTO Album
by BWW
News Desk
- Oct 11, 2010
Manifesto, the debut recording by Dan Berg and the Gestalt, introduces a major new voice to the world of contemporary music, one consciously changing the manner in which modern sounds are created and heard. A native of Philadelphia, the young keyboardist/composer graduated from Hampshire College where he studied under multi-instrumentalist Marty Erhlich. He is now a current resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, where he has continued to develop his own unique brand of music. Although his compositions are, at heart, informed by his knowledge and experience as a jazz pianist, they draw from many different sources and styles -- from jazz to rock to classical and world musics. The overall product strikes a smooth balance between groove and art, visceral and cerebral, the popular and the esoteric.

Hilarious Of Grapes and Nuts @ SeaGlass Theatre
by Don Grigware
- Sep 20, 2010
Fans of John Steinbeck will not want to miss this delightful parody of Grapes of Wrath and Of Mice and Men. Lenny becomes an unwanted member of the Joad family, boss Curly is a lady and the Joads are as determined a family as ever to beat poverty in Oklahoma and find their little patch of green earth in sunny California. SeaGlass proves once again that they are a top-notch theatre company to be reckoned with, making the West coast premiere of Of Grapes and Nuts a wicked classic all by itself.

Actor James Denton from Desperate Housewives is immensely popular and every woman's dream man. BWW Reviews: THE GRAPES OF WRATH from Circle Players
by Jeffrey Ellis
- Aug 21, 2010
Performed by Hillwig's large cast against the backdrop of Jim Manning's beautifully conceived and exquisitely realized set that magically transforms the Keeton's intimate stage into a panoramic view of dustbowl Oklahoma, the fiery Southwest and the lush, verdant fields and orchards of California, The Grapes of Wrath is a visual tour de force that other community theater companies - frankly, any theater company of whatever ilk - should aspire to achieve.
