Voting Begins for 2011 BWW Chicago Awards!

Today, BroadwayWorld.com is announcing the nominees for the 2011 BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards! Representatives of 67 different theater productions, which played at 40 different Chicagoland theaters, are nominated in the 25 categories for the second annual Awards. As these are the only Theater Fan Choice Awards for the internationally known Chicago theater scene, the nominees rightly come from both Equity and Non-Equity theater companies, and from the worlds of plays, musicals, revues and touring shows.

Pride Films and Plays Presents LOVE SUCKS, Opening 11/3

Pride Films and Plays will present its first full production - Love Sucks by Rob Mersola, a not-so-romantic comedy of bad manners, opening November 3. In Love Sucks, we follow six romantically challenged philanderers through a 48-hour maze of the bars, back seats, and bathroom stalls of New York's Lower East Side.

Pride Films and Plays celebrates Pride Month in Chicago with its third reading series Gay UK, featuring five provocative works by British authors. The pieces include Kevin Elyot's haunting comedy MY NIGHT WITH REG; MAURICE,a play by Roger Parsley and Andy Graham from the novel by E. M. Forster; BLOWING WHISTLES, a bittersweet comedy by Matthew Todd; PIG, a sensational drama by Tim Luscombe; and the Chicago premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell's compelling drama THE PRIDE.

Pride Films and Plays is proud to announce the launch of the second annual Great Gay Screenplay Contest. This contest seeks new screenplays that not only speak to the LGBT community, but are essential viewing for our friends, family, and co-workers.

Pride Films and Plays Announces Great Gay Play Fest, 3/3-3/6

The schedule has been set for the five new plays that will be performed as staged readings in the Great Gay Play Fest March 3 - 6, 2011, at the Hoover-Leppen Theater at the Center on Halsted in Chicago. These five scripts have been selected by our esteemed reading panel from fresh GLBT work submitted from around the country, and includes work by new writers, as well as that from those already working in the industry. Five esteemed Chicago directors are working to make these plays a reality.

The schedule for the five new plays featured in the Great Gay Play Fest as staged readings March 3 - 6, 2011, at the Hoover-Leppen Theater at the Center on Halsted in Chicago, has been set. And five esteemed Chicago directors are working to make these plays a reality. After the final reading on Sunday, Pride Films and Plays will announce both an Audience Favorite Award, and the juried winner, as our reading panel included Marshall W. Mason, Jason Moore, Doug Finlayson, Patricia Kane, Jeremy Cohen, Patrick Trettenero, Brian Fonseca, and theater professionals across the country.
