The York Theatre Company has announced that Tony Award winning director and lyricist Richard Maltby, Jr. has joined the cast and has assumed the role of MacMillan in the season opener of the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series: Big, with book by John Weidman, lyrics by Mr. Maltby. and music by David Shire. This presentation of Big marks the New York premiere of the script and score created by the authors for the show's national tour-a significantly revised version of the show with eight new Maltby and Shire songs, yet to be recorded. Mr. Maltby replaces Walter Charles who left the production due to an unexpected conflict.

The 45th Anniversary season will see the Off-Broadway premieres of two Main Stage productions: Texas in Paris starring Tony Award-winner Lillias White, and the highly anticipated Harold and Maude, an intimate musical. The acclaimed Musicals in Mufti series will present its 100th production, expanding to a two-week performance schedule for the musicals Big, A Time for Singing and Saturday Night; My Favorite Year will then play a one-week schedule. Special events include the 23rd Oscar Hammerstein Award Gala honoring Broadway's Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and York's ongoing schedule of developmental readings, labs and more at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue.)
