Playwright Jordan Ramirez Puckett to Receive Abingdon's Wolk Award

Abingdon Theatre Company announces that San Francisco-based playwright Jordan Ramirez Puckett will receive its 2015 Christopher Brian Wolk Award for her play RESTORE. A presentation of the award and staged reading of the play is set for Monday, December 14, at 7:00pm in the June Havoc Theatre, 312 West 36th Street, in Manhattan.

Abingdon Theatre Company's 2015-16 Season to Feature World Premieres

Abingdon Theatre Company launches its 2015-2016 Season of new plays beginning this fall with the world premiere of CUT THROAT by JB Reich. Directed by Drama Desk nominee Mark Waldrop (NEWSical The Musical, When Pigs Fly), CUT THROAT is set to begin previews October 2 at Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex's Dorothy Strelsin Theatre (312 West 36th Street).

Guillotine Theatre to Present John Morogiello's CIVILIZING LUSBY at Page-to-Stage, 9/2

John Morogiello's newest play will get its first DC reading by a troupe that's been associated with the emerging playwright since 2006. Morogiello's plays have been produced at the Abingdon Theatre Company and Greenwich Street T?heatre (NYC), Old Globe Theatre (San Diego), Oldcastle Theatre Company (Vermont), Mountain Playhouse (Pennsylvania), the New Jersey Rep, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Canadian Stage Company and the English Theatre of Vienna (Austria). Locally, his work has been seen at Rep Stage and at the Capital Fringe Festival, where the press referred to him as a "comic genius" in 2009.

Kennedy Center to Present 12th Annual PAGE-TO-STAGE New Play Festival, 8/31-9/2

The Kennedy Center hosts its 12th annual Page-to-Stage new play festival from Saturday, August, 31 to Monday, September 2, 2013, featuring more than 40 theaters from the D.C. metropolitan area, all with a mission to produce and support new work. The three-day, Center-wide event offers a series of free readings and open rehearsals of plays and musicals being developed by local, regional, and national playwrights, librettists, and composers. The Colony Theatre presents the second production of its "Season of Premieres" with the West Coast Premiere Premiere of BLAME IT ON BECKETT, written by John Morogiello and directed by Andrew Barnicle. BLAME IT ON BECKETT opens tonight, Saturday, August 11 at 8:00pm and continues through Sunday, September 2 at The Colony Theatre, 555 North Third Street (at Cypress) adjacent to the Burbank Town Center.

Jan Buttram's LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE swept the recent 6th Annual Ab*ie Award ceremony garnering seven of the eight awards. Voted outstanding play, LOST ON THE NATCHEZ TRACE also took bows for outstanding male actor (Peter Brouwer) and direction, Kate Bushmann. Outstanding design awards went to Andrew Lu (set), Travis McHale (lighting), Catherine Siracusa and Sidney Levitt (co-costume design), and David M. Lawson (sound). THE SAVANNAH DISPUTATION, BLAME IT ON BECKETT and More Set for Colony Theatre's 2012-13 Season

The Colony Theatre Company has announced its 2012 - 2013 season of shows. In this, its 38th season, the multi-Ovation Award-winning theatre company, for the first time in its history, will be bringing its subscribers and audiences six World, West Coast or Los Angeles premiere shows. The season includes a world premiere musical that looks at the life of lyricist Lorenz Hart - to a smack-down of biblical proportions in Savannah, Georgia; From a Hitchcock-ian style thriller to a behind-the-scenes look at a non-profit theatre; throw in a legendary Stradivarius violin and some Fiestaware and you have one of the company's most exciting seasons ever.
