'The Showtune Mosh Pit' for March 5th, 2014

The latest in unauthorized gossip and buzz from the heart of Chicago's showtune video bars, and musical theater news from Chicago to Broadway. Tyler Ravelson, Elizabeth Telford & More to Star in Porchlight's 'HOW TO SUCCEED,' 4/26-6/1

Porchlight Music Theatre and Managing Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the Tony Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, April 26 - June 1 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The classic musical comedy, with book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert and songs by Frank Loesser features direction by Porchlight Artistic Associate Rob Lindley, music direction by Kory Danielson, in his Porchlight debut and choreography by Porchlight Artistic Associate Brenda Didier. Previews are Saturday, April 26 at 8 p.m., Sunday, April 27 at 2 and 6 p.m. and Monday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Opening/press night is Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. The regular run schedule is Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There is an added matinee performance Thursday, May 29 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $30 for previews and $43.50 for all other performances. Single tickets are on sale now and may be purchased online at porchlightmusictheatre.org or by phone at Stage 773, 773.327.5252. Thomas Keneally's TRANSPORT to Play Irish Repertory Theatre in February 2014

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre just announced the world premiere production of the new musical TRANSPORT. With book and lyrics by world-renowned Australian author Thomas Keneally (Schindler's List, the acclaimed book on which the Oscar-winning film is based) and music by Larry Kirwan (founder of the iconic New York City band Black 47), TRANSPORT follows the uneasy ocean voyage of Irish women who were sentenced and then exiled to the relatively uninhabited south coast of Australia in the mid-19th Century. TRANSPORT has direction and set design by three-time Tony Award-winning director and designer Tony Walton, and choreography by Barry McNabb (Irish Rep's FINIAN'S RAINBOW, STREETS OF NEW YORK). TRANSPORT will be performed February 7ththrough April 6th, 2014 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). The Press Opening is scheduled forFebruary 16th.

Irish Rep's JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK Extends Through 12/29

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre proudly announced the extension of its critically-acclaimed revival of Sean O'Casey's JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, directed by Irish Rep Artistic Director Charlotte Moore. With a cast that features, among others, J. Smith-Cameron as Juno Boyle, Ciaran O'Reilly as 'Captain' Jack Boyle, and John Keating as Joxer Daly, JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK will now be performed through Sunday, December 29th on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).

The Irish Repertory Theatre presents the critically-acclaimed revival of THE WEIR by Conor McPherson, directed by Ciaran O'Reilly. The thrice-extended production, which opened on May 23rd, will continue at the Irish Repertory's Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage (132 West 22nd Street) through Sunday, September 15th.

Mary McCann & Paul O'Brien Join Irish Rep's THE WEIR

Irish Repertory Theatre welcomes Mary McCann, recently seen in BLUEBIRD at Atlantic Theatre Company where she is a founding member, and Paul O'Brien, previously seen at Irish Repertory Theater in MAN AND SUPERMAN, to the cast of THE WEIR by Conor McPherson, beginning July 16. Performances of the hit revival currently run through September 8, Tuesdays through Sundays, on the Irish Repertory's Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage (132 West 22nd Street).
