Today, we celebrate our armed forces with just a few musical numbers from shows that tribute their sacrifice.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra Announces Free Summer Concert Series

Boston Landmarks Orchestra (LO) under the direction of Music Director Christopher Wilkins, and Executive Director Jo Frances Meyer, announces its 2019 season of free concerts at the DCR's Hatch Memorial Shell on the Esplanade. The free, public concerts will be held every Wednesday evening at 7pm from July 17 to August 21, 2019.

Pittsburgh Symphony Announces Eighth Fellow In Training Program For African American Musicians

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce the appointment Shantanique Moore, flutist, as the next recipient of the symphony's two-year fellowship designed to enable one young African American musician the ability to dedicate him or herself to the pursuit of an orchestral career. Ms. Moore will be the eighth recipient of a fellowship from the symphony's EQT Orchestra Training Program for African American Musicians (OTPAAM).

San Francisco Opera Presents Georges Bizet's CARMEN At War Memorial Opera House

San Francisco Opera's 2019 Summer Season opens with Georges Bizet's Carmen June 5 29 at the War Memorial Opera House. Presented in American director Francesca Zambello's acclaimed staging, which has been mounted by Opera Australia, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, and Norwegian National Opera, the opera features American mezzo-soprano J'Nai Bridges in her first professional performances of the title role and American tenor Matthew Polenzani assuming the role of Don Jos for the first time. Romanian soprano Anita Hartig makes her San Francisco Opera debut as Mica la and American bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen is the bullfighter, Escamillo. In his first opera engagement with the Company, conductor James Gaffigan leads the cast and San Francisco Opera Orchestra.

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra Announces Inaugural Women In Classical Music Symposium

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announced today the programming and guests for the inaugural Women in Classical Music Symposium. This intensive and comprehensive symposium, sponsored by J.P. Morgan, held November 6-9, 2019, in Dallas, Texas, will feature talks, a public keynote presentation and panel discussions on topics relevant to women in the classical music industry and their unique struggles and triumphs. The event will also include important networking opportunities and performances and will appeal to individuals in all roles of classical music - orchestra members, soloists, composers, conductors and administrators - with pathways for conversation and discussion.

Adelphi Chorale And Vocal Ensembles Celebrate The Writings Of Poet Walt Whitman

Students of Adelphi University's Department of Music will present a spring concert by the Adelphi Chorale and Adelphi Vocal Ensemble under the direction of Karen Faust Baer at Adelphi's Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Sunday, May 5. The program, I Hear America Singing, is a celebration of the bicentennial of Walt Whitman's birth in song.

Boston Court Pasadena's 2019 Emerging Artists Series

Boston Court Pasadena continues its mission of fostering new musical talent with the 3rd Annual Emerging Artists Series, May 30 June 9, 2019. The series will feature up-and-coming pianists, as well as vocalists who have been through a rigorous mentoring curriculum with some of Los Angeles' most prominent musicians and coaches including Mark Robson, Gloria Cheng, Lisa Sylvester, Vicki Ray, Brent McMunn and Paul Floyd.

Taylor Louderman, Will Swenson, Mamie Parris, Ann Harada, Jason Gotay, Laura Michelle Kelly and More Announced For THE MUNY's 101st Season

BroadwayWorld has learned that The Muny announced today 25 principal cast members for the first season of its second century. Complete company casting will be announced throughout April and May. The 101st season opens on a brand new, state-of-the-art stage with Muny favorite Guys and Dolls followed by the U.S. regional premiere of Kinky Boots. The season continues with 1776, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Footloose and a newly-reimagined Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Season 101 closes with the highly-anticipated Muny debut of Roald Dahl's Matilda.

Left Coast Chamber Ensemble Presents DOROTHEA & ARTEMSIA - Two New Chamber Operas

The Left Coast Chamber Ensemble's (LCCE) 2018-2019 season culminates with Dorothea and Artemisia, a program featuring the world premieres of two original chamber operas, each inspired by the contributions of an extraordinary woman artist. The concert includes From the Field, a micro-opera by Christopher Stark illuminating the work of Depression-era photographer Dorothea Lange, and Artemisia, a dramatic operatic work by Laura Schwendinger based on the life of 17th century Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi. The performances will be presented at Z Space, located at 450 Florida Street, San Francisco, on Saturday, June 1 at 7:30pm, and Sunday June 2, at 2pm.

Holland Taylor Joins TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE Sequel

Deadline reports that Madeleine Arthur will reprise her role as Christine in Netflix's All The Boys I've Loved Before sequel, which has also added Emmy winner Holland Taylor and Sarayu Blue. Stars Lana Condor and Noah Centineo will also return; so will Anna Cathcart, Janel Parrish, and John Corbett, along with previously announced newcomers Jordan Fisher and Ross Butler.
