Vassar & New York Stage and Film is pleased to announce the casts for the free Readings Festival 1 (June 25 - 27), which opens the 26th annual Powerhouse Theater season on the Vassar campus.
Powerhouse Theater, a unique collaboration between Vassar College and New York Stage and Film, will enter its second quarter-century this summer, continuing its mission to offer a haven for world-class artists to gather and explore new material in an atmosphere that is both protected and challenging.
A world premiere, fully-staged production by John Patrick Shanley, the first professional production for playwright Tracy Thorne, and the newest musical project from the multi-award winning director Michael Mayer will be just a few of the many highlights of Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater season, June 25 - August 1, 2010.

The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre's 50th Anniversary Season opens on June 2nd with the Lyceum premiere of Mel Brooks' The Producers running through June 12. Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards in 2001 including Best Musical, this musical tells the story of a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer (Max Bialystock), played by Dana Snyder. Dana is returning to the Lyceum stage after a 16 year hiatus during which time he has appeared in many regional theatres from Austin to Cleveland. Mr. Snyder's television credits include Brothers and Sisters and ER. His voice over work includes Cartoon Network's Chowder, Nickelodeon's Penguins of Madagascar and Master Shake in Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Most recently, Dana has been touring the country in Adult Swim's Aqua Teen Hunger Force Live!

On May 23rd, Newnan Community Theatre Company will end its run of the multiple Tony and Academy Award winning musical 'Cabaret.' 'Cabaret' is a musical with a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and music by John Kander. The 1966 Broadway hit production and spawned the 1972 film, as well as two subsequent Broadway productions in 1987 and 1998.
According to her website, Bernadette Peters, who was most recently seen performing in New York in her sold out Broadway Barks benefit concert, will be playing at a variety of venues around the country for her upcoming tour, which kicks off next year. The two-time Tony winner will perform a wide variety of tunes from her vast theatre repertoire.
