During a show, clapping after a song is the norm, as is giving a standing ovation after the show is over, theatergoers are used to that. What I have never seen is an audience give a standing ovation after a song, but that is exactly what I saw when I went to see JERSEY BOYS at Bass Performance Hall.

Jude Law is back in theaters this weekend with the dark-comedy DOM HEMINGWAY. Written and directed by Richard Shepard, the film, starring Law and Richard E. Grant, was shot on location in the South of France. In the film, which opens in limited release on Friday, Law plays a notorious safecracker looking for payback from a crime boss portrayed by Demian Bichir. The cast also features Emilia Clarke, Jumyan Hunter and Madalina Ghenea.

This cut of William Shakespeare's "King Lear" will be presented as a staged reading, produced by SSC in collaboration with director and producer Joe Paradise. In addition to Sorvino and Paradise, actor/comedian Wayne Powers, Michael Sorvino, and Tyler Hollinger of The Public Theatre and The Mint, will also be taking part in "Lear." Loser Kids Productions presents 'Santasia - A Holiday Comedy' directed by Shaun Loeser, written and performed by alumni of ImprovOlympic, Second City, and Comedy Sportz, celebrates its 14th year, December 6 through December 24, at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, CA.

This is probably the preeminent jukebox musical, beautifully presented. And if you can't visit the New York mother ship, this will do nicely.
