The New York Drama Critics' Circle previously named Between Riverside and Crazy, by Stephen Adly Guirgis, best play of the 2014-15 season. Hamilton was named best musical. The selections were made at the organization's 80th annual voting meeting, at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan. The 71st Annual Theatre World Awards -- the first award created in 1945 to recognize a debut theatre performance on or off-Broadway -- will be honoring the legacy of Betty Comden and ON THE TOWN with a special recognition for "Outstanding Contribution to the Theatre World." Tony Yazbeck, nominated for a 2015 Tony Award for his leading role in the musical-comedy love letter to New York City ON THE TOWN, will reprise the role of 'Gabey' in select cities on the 2016-2017 national tour.  ON THE TOWN is nominated for four 2015 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Best Performance By a Leading Actor in a Musical (Tony Yazbeck), Best Choreography (Joshua Bergasse), and Best Direction of a Musical (John Rando).

The 71st Annual Theatre World Awards - the oldest award given for a debut theatre performance on or off-Broadway - will be held Monday, June 1, 2015 at 7:45 p.m. at Broadway's Lyric Theatre (213 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The winners of this year's Theatre World Awards will be announced Tuesday, May 5.  The 2015 John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented to Chita Rivera. The 7th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence will also be presented to honor an Outstanding Performance in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production.  Hosted annually by respected theater journalist, Peter Filichia, the awards ceremony is produced by the Theatre World Awards, Inc. Board of Directors.
