Thanks to a joint production of Nashville's Rhubarb Theater and Pendulum 3, Sedaris' twinbill for Christmas - The Santaland Diaries and Season's Greetings to Our Friends and Family, adapted for the stage by Joe Mantello - gave audiences just the right twist to the season, delivering laughs and evoking deeper thought, thanks to the superb performances of Bob Roberts, as Sedaris' onstage doppelganger, and Trish Crist as the Christmas letter-writing doyenne of the fictional Dunbar family. Directing each other in their halves of the show gave Roberts and Crist the opportunity to show us their dual roles in exemplary fashion.

Rep Stage Celebrates the Holidays with David Sedaris, 12/18-20

For theatergoers looking for unique fare this holiday season, Rep Stage has just the ticket. Michael Stebbins, Rep Stage's producing artistic director, will bring to life -- with simply a chair, music stand, and bottle of water -- three holiday short stories by American humorist David Sedaris on December 18, 19 and 20 in the Monteabaro Recital Hall at Howard Community College (HCC). 'Holiday Readings (With Some Surprise Packages)* - * = some adult humor' features Stebbins reading 'Based Upon a True Story,' 'Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol' and 'Season's Greetings to Our Friends and Family!!!' In the spirit of Sedaris and the holidays, door prizes will also be handed out to the most 'festively' dressed audience members. Patrons wearing elf slippers, glowing red noses, and sweaters featuring full macramé snow scenes will be rewarded with t-shirts, mugs, holiday cards and more. Performance times are 8 p.m. on December 18; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on December 19; and 2 p.m. on December 20. Canadian Stage Announces Collaboration With The Company Theatre For Berkeley Street Project, 12/9

Canadian Stage today announced The Company Theatre (A Whistle in the Dark, Festen, Through the Leaves) as the newest collaborators in The Berkeley Street Project, an ongoing partnership initiative that profiles Toronto's independent theatre community while presenting vibrant, contemporary theatre in the city. The Company Theatre will produce a yet-to-be-announced production at the Berkeley Street Theatre as part of Canadian Stage's 2011.2012 subscription season.
