According to a report in What's On Stage, British actors Hannah Waddingham and Scarlett Strallen are in talks to play the Witch and Cinderella, respectively, in the Open Air Theatre's upcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim's INTO THE WOODS.

On Monday, April 5 at Gotham Hall, Symphony Space's annual Gala will inaugurate the first annual Access to the Arts Awards, a tribute to the artists, corporations, philanthropists, and others who share its dedication to providing quality arts experiences to the greatest number of people. Awardees will be legendary soprano Jessye Norman, who gives generously of her time and talents to young artists and is a recent recipient of the National Medal of Arts; JPMorgan Chase Foundation, a leader in arts and education funding, and a longtime supporter of Symphony Space's Curriculum Arts Project; and The 52nd Street Project, which offers unique arts and theatre opportunities to at-risk youth.

GPR Records' first release will be 'Poetic License' featuring 100 poems read by 100 performers of the stage and screen. The CD will be released on April 2nd in celebration of National Poetry Month and will be available on Amazon.com and on itunes. There has never been a spoken word recording that has included so many performers reading such a wide variety of poetry, each selection a personal choice of the performer. GPR Records is presenting this collection in hopes of inspiring audiences with a new appreciation of the spoken word.

Sundance Institute announced today the acting company for its Theatre Lab at MASS MoCA. This program will run March 28 - April 11, 2010 at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Mass. Stephen Sondheim turned 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he celebrated this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.

Angela Lansbury and Catherine Zeta-Jones, currently starring in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music, have joined the all-star cast performing in Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebration April 26 at New York City Center. Like Lansbury and Zeta-Jones, all of the performers have either originated Sondheim characters or performed them in notable revivals.

Special guests for the spring series include, Judith Ivey, Judith Light and Craig Lucas.Master Classes are open to the public with a suggested $5 donation.

Stage and screen star Carrie Preston will guest star on a multiple episode arc of the hit television show CBS later this season. Preston will play one of a team of lawyers called in to air Chris North's character, Peter Florick.
