KC Rep Sets New Dates for Origin KC New Works Festival

Marissa Wolf, Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Director of New Works, today announced additional programing and dates for KC Rep's new play program, Origin KC. Featuring the Monday Night Playwright Series, Playwright Slams, the Origin KC New Works Festival and the Mainstage, Origin KC offers audiences a unique experience to engage with the process of creating theater, and gives emerging and established writers the resources to develop plays for future seasons at KC Rep and beyond.

Cast of BRUISE EASY World Premiere at American Theater Company Set

American Theater Company (ATC) announces casting for its world premiere of Bruise Easy by Dan LeFranc, Jan. 8-Feb. 14, 2016, about two estranged siblings who reunite at their childhood home for the conversation of a lifetime. ATC Ensemble Member Kelly O'Sullivan performs the role of Tess, returning after starring in ATC's critically acclaimed world premiere of The Humans last season. Matt Farabee makes his ATC debut performing the role of Alec. The ensemble includes ATC Youth Ensemble Members Matt Gomez-Hidaka, Jenna Makkaway, Michael Sandoval and Leah Schiffman, with Dante Guinazzo, Leslie Lawrence and Sandy Nguyen. Bruise Easy is the first mainstage production in ATC's history to feature Youth Ensemble members among the company.

Victory Gardens to Stage Sarah Gubbins' COCKED

Victory Gardens Theater announces the next show of its 41st season, the World Premiere of Cocked by Sarah Gubbins, directed by Associate Artistic Producer Joanie Schultz. Cocked runs February 12 - March 13, 2016 with the press performance on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 7:30 pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

American Theater Company to Stage World Premiere of BRUISE EASY

American Theater Company (ATC) continues its Legacy Season with the world premiere of Bruise Easy by Dan LeFranc, a writer on Showtime's 2015 Golden Globe-winning drama The Affair and playwright of ATC's blockbuster world premiere The Big Meal-which went on to an extended off-Broadway run at Playwrights Horizons.

Northlight Theatre to Continue Season with YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU

League of Chicago Theatres Sets Theatre Thursdays Lineup, Featuring World Premieres

The League of Chicago Theatres announces the re-launch of Theatre Thursdays for the 2015-2016 Chicago theatre season, featuring 12 world premiere plays by companies across the city. Each monthly event provides audiences with an inside look at the creative process behind new works, including exclusive access to artists. Steep Theatre is thrilled to announce the programming for its upcoming, landmark 15th season.  The slate of shows will celebrate many of the elements that have defined this company since its inception and established it as one of the most vibrant companies in Chicago: bold scripts from today's most exciting writers; fearlessly honest ensemble work; and visionary directors.  Steep's 15th season features a U.S. premiere from 2015 Tony Award winner and Steep Associate Playwright Simon Stephens; a world premiere from playwright and veteran stage and screen actor Hamish Linklater; a U.S. Premiere from one of Britain's most celebrated writers Laura Wade; and a local premiere from Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Samuel D. Hunter. 

Victory Gardens Sets IGNITION Festival of New Plays Lineup

Victory Gardens Theater announces the lineup for its newly-expanded IGNITION Festival of New Plays for the 2015 Festival, including Confessions of a P.I.M.P. by Andre De Shields; Queen by Madhuri Shekar; Slay & Eat  by A. Zell Williams; The Last Book of Homer by Jose Rivera; Muthaland by Minita Gandhi; Office Hour by Julia Cho; and Sadie River's Drag Ball on the Lawn by Basil Kreimendahl. The festival takes place July 16-19, 2015. The IGNITION festival creates a productive environment for both emerging and established playwrights to explore and develop their new work. 

Steppenwolf Sets FIRST LOOK Lineup of New Plays

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is proud to announce the lineup for the 10th annual First Look, a program dedicated to new play development, August 11 - 16, 2015 in the Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Providing an early look at works-in-progress from some of the most dynamic playwrights in the field, First Look develops new plays for future production at Steppenwolf and other theaters across the country. Since its inception in 2005, First Look has developed 14 plays that have received subsequent world premiere productions at other theatres, as well as Sex with Strangers by Laura Eason, which premiered on the Steppenwolf stage.

Irish Theatre of Chicago's Full 2015-16 Season to Include, SPINNING, MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE & More

Irish Theatre of Chicago, formerly Seanachai Theatre Company, is pleased to announce its 2015-16 Season, featuring a U.S premiere and two Midwest premieres. The company's first-ever three-show season kicks off this fall with the Midwest premiere of Geraldine Aron's touching and comedic one-woman show MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE, directed by Siiri Scott. ITC's 21st Season continues in March 2016 with the Midwest premiere of Gary Mitchell's intense thriller IN A LITTLE WORLD OF OUR OWN, directed by Associate Artistic Director Jeri Frederickson. The season concludes in spring 2016 with the U.S. premiere of Deirdre Kinahan's probing drama SPINNING, directed by Joanie Schultz.

Windy City Playhouse Extends END DAYS through May 3

Windy City Playhouse, Chicago's newest Equity theater, has announced the extension of their production of END DAYS. It runs through April 26 at Windy City Playhouse, 3014 W. Irving Park.
