American Contemporary Music Ensemble Performs at Roulette in NYC Concert Series Curated by Meredith Monk

ACME, American Contemporary Music Ensemble, will perform music from its new 'portrait' album Thrive on Routine on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 8pm at Roulette (509 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, NY), on a concert series curated by Meredith Monk. The concert will feature Monk's first string quartet, Stringsongs, from 2005, which ACME has performed frequently and recorded for Q2 Music's Meet the Composer podcast. In addition, ACME will perform Caroline Shaw's in manus tuas for solo cello, Caleb Burhans' Jahrzeit for string quartet, and Timo Andres' Thrive on Routine for string quartet, from the new album. ACME players for this concert are Ben Russell and Laura Lutzke, violins; Caleb Burhans, viola; and Clarice Jensen, cello and ACME artistic director.

Jen Silverman's THE MOORS to Shed Light on Women at The Playwrights Realm

Led by Founding Artistic Director Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Roberta Pereira, and following the success of Sarah DeLappe's critically acclaimed The Wolves, The Playwrights Realm continues their female-centric 10th Anniversary season with the New York Premiere of Jen Silverman's The Moors (February 27 - March 25) at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project. Directed by Mike Donahue and riffing on the lives and works of certain 19th-century novel-writing sisters, The Moors is a dark comic examination of the ways in which women fight for visibility.

MOONLIGHT Among Film Comment's 2016 Best-of-Year Lists

Film Comment's annual end-of-year survey was released today with Maren Ade's Toni Erdmann, Barry Jenkins's Moonlight, and Paul Verhoeven's Elle taking the top spots among films released in 2016.

The three composers have chosen music for this concert that captures what they call the Nordic "dark sides" or Nordic Noir - music that captures a coolness, calmness, and a mindfulness.
