Seattle Playwrights Salon Presents UNHINGED by Pamela Hobart Carter

Seattle Playwrights Salon kicks off a year of parity (plays by women!) by presenting Unhinged, by Seattle-based playwright, Pamela Hobart Carter at the Conservatory, 5813 South, Seattle, 98108. RAWdance Performs DOUBLE EXPOSURE at ODC, 10/26-28

After their sold-out world premiere at ODC Theater last summer, RAWdance returns next month in an encore presentation of DOUBLE EXPOSURE, the company's critically acclaimed program of duets representing more than a dozen West Coast choreographers. Free Staged Reading of WE WILL NOT BE SILENT Comes to the Fountain

We Will Not Be Silent - The true story of Sophie Scholl, a German college student who led the only act of public resistance to the Nazis during World War II, David Meyers' play examines the moral strength and clarity that led a group of students to risk their lives for a righteous, but hopeless, cause. The Fountain offers a free staged reading as an adjunct to its currently running production of Building the Wall.

ODC Theater is proud to present RAWdance in the world premiere of Double Exposure, a series of 12 duets each choreographed by a different West Coast choreographer or choreographic team. Artistic Directors Ryan T. Smith andWendy Rein are the evening's sole performers in an event they're calling 'the ultimate duet.' Double Exposure runs July 28 - 31, Thursday to Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 - $45, and may be purchased online at odcdance.org/tickets or by phone at 415.863.9834.

The play is directed by MTC artistic director Jasson Minadakis and features local actors Lauren English, Jessa Brie Moreno and Liz Sklar, as well John Riedlinger (Minnesota) and Nicholas Rose (Ohio). The production will star acclaimed actors David Whalen, Sam Tsoutsouvas, and newcomer Rico Parker, with direction by Andrew Paul and scenic design by Mark Clayton Southers. Blue/Orange, sponsored by founding Phoenix Board Member and noted arts philanthropist Richard E. Rauh, plays tonight, November 1-23, 2013 at the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre, 937 Liberty Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh.

The Phoenix Launches in Pittsburgh with BLUE/ORANGE, 11/1

Long-time PICT artistic director and founder, Andrew Paul and Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre founder and former director of theatre initiatives at the August Wilson Center, Mark Clayton Southers have announced Pittsburgh's newest professional theatre company, The Phoenix. The mission of The Phoenix is to explore the issues facing our diverse and rapidly changing world through the language of theatre. The name is purposeful. The phoenix was a mythological creature that crossed borders finding a home in many cultures from ancient Greece and Egypt to Turkey, Persia, Russia, Tibet, China and Japan. It was and is a symbol of renewal, new life emerging from the ashes of the old in a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth.

RAWdance to Premere MINE at Joe Goode Annex, 12/6

On the cusp of its 10-year anniversary, RAWdance is proud to announce the world premiere of Mine, an evening-length work of contemporary dance created by RAWdance founders Ryan T. Smith and Wendy Rein. Inspired by the limitless stretches of fencing and barbed wire that partitions much of the rural American West, Mine focuses inward, probing the human urge to possess, consume and control. Mine opens Friday, December 6, 2013 at the Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco, and runs through Sunday, December 15.

Bandaloop Presents HARBORING at Fort Mason Center, Now thru 7/21

BANDALOOP, the Bay Area's acclaimed vertical dance company, is proud to present Harboring, a new hour long, multi-dimensional dance by Amelia Rudolph in collaboration with assistant artistic director Rachael Lincoln and the dancers of BANDALOOP, with art direction by celebrated designer Jack Carpenter. Staged in and around Fort Mason Center's iconic Festival Pavilion and inspired by Fort Mason's past and present, this world premiere moves through images of travel, memory, the fluidity of the ocean, rope craft and maritime industry using the medium of site-reactive multi-dimensional dance. Harboring will engage the space and interactive set pieces including a stack of shipping containers and a swinging frame/vessel to draw the viewer into an immersive experience.
