HAIR Opens July 18 at Lake Worth Playhouse

On Sunday, March 30th, 1958 Alvin Ailey gave his first NYC concert at the 92nd St. Y where he debuted one of his signature pieces, 'Blues Suite'. Many of the best dancers in the city performed that day. Don't miss the opportunity to hear three of these amazing artists - Ella Thompson Moore, Nat Horne and Dorene Richardson - share memories of this auspicious (incredible) performance.

Dance enthusiasts from all walks of life gathered for an intimate showing of the fascinating Eye on Dance episode taped in 1986, entitled 'Nurturing A New Generation of Dancers, featuring two beloved dance figures and mentors- Bessie Schonberg and Louise Roberts, presented at Gibney Dance. Curated by Celia Ipiotis (Creator/Co-Producer/Host of Eye on Dance) and Jeff Bush (Co-Producer of Eye on Dance), put together this lovely event as part of the Eye on Dance Public Screenings and Conversation Series.

Dancers Over 40 to Perform CAN'T STOP THE MUSIC Event, Today

Dancers Over 40 celebrates diversity in dance with Can't Stop the Music! Can't Stop the Dance! Diversity All Around Us! – featuring DO40 Advisory Board member Jerry Mitchell's new musical comedy, Gotta Dance – the incredible true story of ten determined dreamers who have three things in common:  they love to dance, they have something to prove and they are all over 60.  They battle pain, prejudice, self-doubt and each other for a chance to bust a move at center court in front of 20,000 screaming fans at a national basketball team's half time show. That panel will be moderated by Broadway World's Richie Ridge. Also featured, a celebration of African-American, Hispanic and Asian artists including DO40 member Gus Solomon jr's dance company Paradigm, and members of his company, Carmen de Lavallade, Sarita Allen, Hope Clarke and Karen Brown (Dance Theater of Harlem, Complexions, Ailey, Dunham Companies), as well as Dr. Mel A. Footlight Players' WAIT UNTIL DARK Begins Tonight

The Footlight Players, South Carolina's longest-producing theatre company presents its second main-stage production, Wait Until Dark, a suspenseful thriller, written by Frederick Knott. Directed by Don Brandenburg, it's the story of a recently blinded housewife who gets into trouble when she unknowingly comes into possession of a doll containing illicit drugs. With this her life changes, when three criminals plot to reclaim possession of the drugs. The plot thickens as she schemes to outwit them in their quest. The cast includes Jill Williams as Susy Hendrix, Drew Anderson as Sam Hendrix, Aubrey Rogers as Gloria, Timothy Trouche as Harry Roat, Evan McNear as Mike Talman, Linwood Yarboriugh as Sgt. Carlino, Jae Patrice as the Policewoman and Rhett Klok as the Ploiceman.
