'All Through the Night', New Play by Shirley Lauro Opens Oct. 1 Off-Broadway

Having received its world premier production in Chicago where is received a Jefferson Award Nomination for ?Best New Play in Chicago,? Shirley?s Lauro?s ?All Through The Night? will begin its New York engagement Thursday, October 1st (8PM) at Off Broadway?s Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater (5 West 64th Street at Central Park West). Directed by Melanie Moyer Williams, the play is produced by The Red Fern Theatre Company---a company which has made its mark not only producing socially conscious work?but partnering with philanthropies whose mission seeks to assist those affected by the issues addressed in each new project. Red Fern will soon announce the philanthropy partner for All Through The Night.

As part of its 2008-2009 Season of Secrets, the Red Fern Theatre Company will present Nicky Silver's Raised in Captivity from January 29 - February 15, 2008 at the Shell Theatre in the Times Square Arts Building. Dominic D'Andrea directs this play, which the New York Times has called an 'archly absurdist comedy' with 'depth of feeling' in its 1995 incarnation. The current climate of uncertainty and angst demands the instant self-analysis provided by The Red Fern Theatre Company's presentation of Raised in Captivity, a dark comedy about twin siblings who deal with guilt, redemption, self punishment, and revealed secrets following their mother's untimely death. Amidst the seemingly unending economic crisis, this production acts as a satiric mirror for the dysfunction, alienation and depths of depravity possible in a sometimes cold society. The Red Fern Theatre will partner with Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow as part of its ongoing mission to produce socially conscious plays while partnering with philanthropies whose missions assist those affected by the issues addressed in the play. Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow helps disadvantaged youth and adults recognize their own self-worth, and advance towards self-sufficiency and financial security through job training, academic reinforcement, improved life skills, job placement, and support services. New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Founding producer/Artistic Director), and Epic's After School Shakespeare Program (Melissa Friedman, Founding Executive Director of Education), in conjunction with Chelsea High School and Automotive High School, will present productions of two classic Shakespeare plays featuring the students from each school: the Automotive High School production of Romeo and Juliet sponsored by Lanc?me for three performances, beginning December 11th; and the Chelsea High School production of The Winter's Tale, made possible by support from the Meringoff Family Foundation, for four performances beginning December 18th. All performances will take place at the East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street).
