Sarah Ruhl Moderates Talkback After Martha Jane Kaufman's LOVE POEMS FOR DEAD BODIES, 10/17

Tonight, October 17, {YOUR NAME HERE} presents a one-night only staged reading of "Love Poems for Dead Bodies" by Martha Jane Kaufman as part of their RADICAL ACTS series. The show will be held at TADA! Theater, 15 West 28th Street at 7 pm with a talkback immediately following moderated by Pulitzer finalist Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House, In the Next Room).

National Theatre Conference Honors Elizabeth McCann, Dominique Morisseau, and New Federal Theatre with 2012 Awards

The National Theatre Conference (NTC), an organization founded in 1925 that meets annually in New York to discuss relevant issues in today's theatre community and to celebrate outstanding achievement in the American theatre, has named the recipients of its 2012 awards. Broadway producer Elizabeth McCann has been named Person of the Year; the New Federal Theatre, under the direction of its founder, Woodie King, Jr., is the recipient of the Theatre of the Year Award; and playwright Dominique Morisseau has been selected as the winner of the Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwright Award. All three will be presented with their awards and honored at the Players and at Signature Theatre during NTC's annual conference in New York October 26-28, 2012.

Botanicum Seedlings Announce SeedlingsFest 2012- Set for 10/20-21

Botanicum Seedlings, Theatricum Botanicum's new play development program, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with SeedlingsFest 2012, offering Theatricum audiences and company members an opportunity to sample fresh new works, plus seasonal gourmet treats and live music. Subtitled a "Festival of (short) Playreadings," SeedlingsFest features two days of plays from emerging and award-winning playwrights interpreting this year's theme, "Hybrids & Heirlooms" - a nod to Seedlings' ten years of supporting plays of varying styles and forms, from traditional to wildly experimental and everything in between. SeedlingsFest 2012 takes place Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21, at 2 pm. Admission is free; donations will be gratefully accepted.

Stage Left Theatre Presents IMPENETRABLE World Premiere Tonight, 9/7

Stage Left Theatre announces the upcoming World Premiere of Impenetrable written by Mia McCullough and directed by ensemble member Greg Werstler. Impenetrable is the first production of Stage Left's 31st season. Press opening tonight, September 7th at 8 PM at Theater Wit, 1229 W Belmont. The show runs through October 7th.

The Lark Play Development Center Names Playwrights’ Workshop Fellows

The Lark Play Development Center named five New York City-based dramatists as Playwrights' Workshop Fellows for the 2012-13 season. The group spans a wide range of cultural backgrounds and professional experiences and will meet regularly through June to develop new plays.

The Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project presents a reading of The Parade or Approaching the End of a Summer by Tennessee Williams, directed by Mark Finley and featuring Paul Caiola, Emily Hartford, Irene Longshore and Jeremy Lawrence. The reading is set for 7:30pm tonight, August 25, 2012.

Abingdon Theatre Company-which has produced 77 new American plays in its 20-year history-celebrates its 2012-2013 Season with the inaugural ABINGDON BAY RIDGE ONE-ACT FESTIVAL, an evening of three world-premiere short plays, commissioned by Abingdon Theatre Company, by Kevin Armento, Bo List, and Jen Silverman, tonight, August 25 at 7:00pm at Christ Church Bay Ridge (7301 Ridge Boulevard) in Brooklyn.

RABBIT by Nina Raine & More Set for Stage Left's 31st Season

Stage Left Theatre has announced the programming for its 31st season, which will include IMPENETRABLE, PYGMALION, and RABBIT by Nina Raine. The company will offer three mainstage productions for the first time since moving to their current producing venue at Theater Wit.

Mortar Theatre Company to Present BOMBS, BABES AND BINGO, 5/20-6/17

Mortar Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Bombs, Babes and Bingo by Merri Biechler. The experimental production, directed by Rachel Edwards Harvith, is performed at the mainstage of the newly renamed Luna Central, formerly Live Bait Theatre, 3914 North Clark Street, May 20 - June 17. Previews are Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. Opening/Press night is Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 1. Ticket prices are $15 for previews and $20 for the regular performance run and may be purchased at MortarTheatreCompany.org or at the Luna Central box office at 773.819.5862.
