James takes us to a 'Whole New World' as we discuss his experiences in the long-running musical MEMPHIS and his magical time in Disney's ALADDIN--from finding his own take on an iconic character to his night at the Tony Awards.

The house at Disney's Aladdin on Broadway had their wish granted when Whoopi Goldberg made a surprise one-night-only appearance last night, January 19th. Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart will join the Broadway cast of Hamilton in the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson starting in mid April (date TBD), it has been announced by producer Jeffrey Seller.

Disney's Aladdin, the hit Broadway musical, is pleased to announce that Major Attaway, current Genie standby in the Broadway company, will take over the role full-time beginning Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

This episode was truly an honor. James Monroe Iglehart is a Tony Award winner for Best Featured Actor as The Genie in ALADDIN. He is an amazing talent and his energy is infectious. James Monroe Iglehart, the show-stopping, Tony-winning Genie from Broadway's Aladdin and original cast member of Memphis will perform his favorite hit songs from stage and screen on Saturday, January 28 at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (1 Center Street, Newark NJ).

Christian Dante White has teamed with Brent Dundore to create Broadway Legacy, a photographic and editorial exhibition that celebrates African-American achievement in the Broadway industry. Broadway veteran John Eric Parker serves as styling consultant.

On Monday, November 14, the Theater People podcast welcome's Tony nominee Brandon Uranowitz. He made his Broadway debut in 2011's BABY IT'S YOU. He earned a Tony nomination for his turn as Adam Hochberg in last year's AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, and he can currently be seen in the role of Mendel in William Finn and James Lapine's critically acclaimed revival of FALSETTOS. For the episode, Uranowitz discusses the six months of auditions he went through to win the role of Mendel, how James Lapine was lovingly hard on him during the show's rehearsal process, and shares a memory of accompanying Katie Holmes on a shopping spree during his pre-Broadway days when he worked as a sales associate.
