Placido Domingo announced today that Grant Gershon has renewed his contract as Resident Conductor of LA Opera through the end of the 2019/20 season.

LA Opera presents Giacomo Puccini's thrilling masterpiece, Tosca, conducted by Music Director James Conlon. The final mainstage presentation of the company's 2016/17 season, Tosca is a revival of the production staged by the company in 2013, directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner John Caird. There will be seven performances from April 22 through May 13, taking place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012).

Richard Tucker Music Foundation named soprano Nadine Sierra as winner of 2017 Richard Tucker Award; simultanously, it announced its roster of study and career grant recipients.

Soprano Nadine Sierra - who at 28 years old is already establishing herself as a fixture at many of the world's leading opera houses, including those of Paris, Milan, Berlin, and New York - was named today by the Richard Tucker Music Foundation as the winner of the 2017 Richard Tucker Award.

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will present one of today's most exciting young artists, 26-year-old French pianist Lise de la Salle, in her Detroit recital debut Friday, May 5 at 8 PM.  The concert, featuring music of Liszt, Schumann and Prokofiev, takes place at Schaver Music Recital Hall, which is located at 480 W. It's a new era at the Basque National Orchestra. That much was clear at a press conference held this week in San Sebastian, where the orchestra has its base (though they are resident in cities across the Basque Country).
