Helen Mirren to Play The Queen on Broadway and West End in THE AUDIENCE?

Dame Helen Mirren is currently considering a role as Queen Elizabeth II in THE AUDIENCE, a play about the Queen's reign so far by Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon) in the West End this fall and on Broadway in spring 2013, according to the New York Post. Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) has been tipped to direct the play, which will humanise the Queen by mixing stories of her private and public lives.

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY THE MUSICAL Set for London Palladium, June 2013; Mendes, Greig, Shaiman, Wittman & More on Team

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick today announced that their production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will open at the London Palladium in June 2013 after a preview period. The new stage musical will be directed by Sam Mendes, with a book by David Greig and new songs from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Berkeley Playhouse closes its 2011-12 main stage season with a delicious adaptation of ROALD DAHL'S WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Berkeley Playhouse founding Artistic Director Elizabeth McKoy helms this musical treat, based on Roald Dahl's stylish children's story about the world famous candy man, starring noted Bay Area singer/songwriter, musician, and recording artist Vernon Bush in the title role. ROALD DAHL'S WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY plays July 14 through August 19 at the Julia Morgan Theatre in Berkeley.

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond film series and the 25th Anniversary of BAFTA Los Angeles, the organization has partnered with American Cinematheque to present a complete retrospective screening series of every official James Bond 007 film, beginning with Dr. No and From Russia With Love tonight, June 8, 2012 at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

JAMES BOND Star Roger Moore to Take 'An Evening With Sir Roger Moore' on Tour, Oct 2012

According to the Daily Mail, film and TV star Roger Moore will kick off a national tour of 'An Evening With Sir Roger Moore' at the Malvern Theatre Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, followed by stops throughout the country through Oct. 26. At each performance, Gareth Owen will interview Moore and open the floor for an audience Q&A.

CAPA Summer Movie Series Opens June 15

The 42nd annual CAPA Summer Movie Series at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) begins June 15, and features 27 films over nine weeks. The Series opens with the Oscar-winning, American classic, Casablanca, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, which runs June 15-17.

Judi Dench on the Importance of Shakespeare in Schools

In a recent interview with BBC, Dame Judi Dench chatted about the importance of teaching Shakespeare in schools. Dench commented: ' I would like to be doing a Shakespeare play every single night, and I do try to say a sonnet every day... Either it gives you goosebumps or it doesn't, and I heard this morning that some schools have stopped doing Shakespeare on the school curriculum.'

Charlie Clements Leads FAITH's First London Revival, Now thru June 16

Multi award-winning former EastEnders actor Charlie Clements leads the cast in the first major London revival of Meredith Oakes' FAITH since its Royal Court premiere in 1997, marking the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War. Directed by Drew Baker, the show will get a 4-week season at The Courtyard Theatre Tuesdays-Sundays at 7:30pm from tonight, 23 May to Saturday 16 June.

CLASH OF THE COMMERCIALS: USA VS. THE WORLD, hosted from Las Vegas by legendary supermodel Heidi Klum, and 'The Insider's' co-host Kevin Frazier, is an interactive countdown special pitting the 10 best international commercials ever against the 10 best from the United States. The special, during which viewers will be able to vote LIVE for the winner, will be broadcast tonight, May 21 (10:00 PM-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG Directed by Roger Hodgman Opens in Sydney November 16

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, adapted for the stage from the MGM Motion Picture by Jeremy Sams and Ray Broderick with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman will open at Sydney's Capitol Theatre from the 16th of November. The show will be directed in Australia by Roger Hodgman and features sets and costumes by renowned English designer Anthony Ward.

Columbia University School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates To Be Held in Miller Theatre, 5/16

Columbia University School of the Arts will hold its Celebration of Graduates at 2:00pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Miller Theatre on the Morningside Campus.
