Robert Cuccioli to Lead Carrie Robbins's MAGICAL THINKING This Month

Tony-nominated actor Robert Cuccioli will lead the cast of MAGICAL THINKING: My Favorite Indigents & Severe Clear by playwright/designer Carrie Robbins, directed by Paul Dobie (Associate or Assistant Director for B'way's Once, Cabaret, Wicked, Martin Short... Fame Becomes Me, Glengarry Glen Ross). The reading will take place on Monday, April 18, at 7pm at the Bernie Wohl Center.

Ute Lemper Sets Spring Shows in New York City

Grammy-nominated, internationally acclaimed artist Ute Lemper's collaboration with renowned best-selling author Paulo Coelho, The 9 Secrets, is set for release on February 12 via Steinway & Sons. The album presents a song cycle composed and sung by Lemper, set to words by Coelho from his 2012 novel Manuscript Found in Accra, the thematic content of which may be encapsulated in the lines, "After lying undiscovered for over 700 years, a manuscript holding the answers to questions about life and humanity is unearthed. / Simple questions about our lives torn between happiness and sorrow and defined by hope, intelligence and desire to love as much as the capacity to hate and destroy." Coelho himself is featured on two tracks-see below for track list. In celebration, Lemper will perform the piece in its entirety in a fully staged production at Symphony Space in New York City on May 13, tickets and information here.

Stage & Screen Actor Shawn Elliott Passes Away at 79

Shawn Elliott, a dynamic actor and singer on stage, film, and TV for nearly 60 years, passed away on March 11 at his home in New York City, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was 79.

42nd Street Moon to Conclude 23rd Season with THE MOST HAPPY FELLA

42nd Street Moon concludes its 23rd season with Frank Loesser's glorious Napa Valley romance, the Tony Award-winning THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. This masterpiece with book, music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed in Business …, Where's Charley?) is an unconventional and sweepingly romantic love story set in the vineyards of Napa Valley. Considered one of Loesser's greatest works, the stunning score includes "The Most Happy Fella," "Standing on the Corner," "Joey, Joey, Joey," "Rosabella," "Big D," "My Heart Is So Full of You" and "Song of a Summer Night." Directed by Cindy Goldfield, with musical direction by Dave Dobrusky, THE MOST HAPPY FELLA will run April 27 - May 17, 2016 (Press opening: Saturday, April 30) at the Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson Street, San Francisco. When my wife and I walked into many an opening night performance, it was our pleasure to find David and Joe Garry, David's partner for 40 years and husband for two, and schmooze about the theatre scene in Cleveland and New York, and the many places all of us had visited.

Broadway 'Motel' Austin Pendleton to Helm FIDDLER for New Rep's 2016-17 Season

Featuring seven productions, New Rep's 2016-2017 season includes Regular Singing, the fourth and final play in Richard Nelson's Apple Family series, presented in collaboration with Stoneham Theatre; Good, CP Taylor's historical, political drama; Fiddler on the Roof, a revival of the Tony award- winning musical, featuring Jeremiah Kissel as Tevye and directed by original Broadway cast member Austin Pendleton; Thurgood, a one-man play featuring Johnny Lee Davenport as Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall; Brecht on Brecht, a play with music based on the collective works of Bertolt Brecht; Golda's Balcony, a one-woman play featuring Bobbie Steinbach as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir; and The Gift Horse, a sharp comedy by nationally-acclaimed local playwright Lydia R. Diamond in a Boston-area premiere.

Gay Marshall to Bring PIAF Back to Metropolitan Room, 4/4

Gay Marshall, who starred as Morales in A Chorus Line on Broadway and at the Zipper Theater's revival of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, enthralled the audience last week at Metropolitan Room with her spectacular and unusual take on Edith Piaf. She returns to the Metropolitan Room with this show on April 4th at 9:30pm.

Camille O'Sullivan Returning to Irish Arts Center, 4/6-16

Having played a sold out run in the fall of 2014, the acclaimed Irish/French singer/actress Camille O'Sullivan will return to New York's intimate Irish Arts Center with an eight-show residency from April 6-16. Camille's dramatic, original interpretations of songs by Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Arcade Fire and Radiohead, and love of narrative storytelling have critics around the world raving. "When she sings it's as though her breath is soaked in paraffin - one spark and the whole room would ignite," writes The Daily Telegraph.

BWW Interview: Brilliant Scientist/Artist ANA ISABEL O Publishes New Childrens Books

Internationally known biologist and writer Dr. Ana Isabel O is constantly embarking on new projects. Educated in Europe and a self-taught Victorian patchwork maker since the early 90s, Ordonez has presented her work in France and Luxembourg. As a scientist she holds Masters and PhDs in Genetics, Forestry and Animal Biology and has lectured extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Japan, China, New Zealand and South America on insect-plant pathology and biological control research. She has also written several articles on the value of nature. Ordonez, however, has not confined her interests to the world of science. A true Renaissance woman, she is also a reputed jazz editor, independent filmmaker, music/art promoter and producer. In 2012 she contributed tirelessly to the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial tribute with Christopher Kennedy Lawford, because she believes in her heart that true valuable art of any kind must never be forgotten.
