Andrew Lloyd Webber Donates £1 Million in Arts Scholarships

According to the Evening Standard, theatre legend Andrew Lloyd Webber will award 10 scholarships for performers going to college for music and drama. The Weekend Arts College, which just lost its Arts Council grant will also receive funding from Lloyd Webber to go towards employing arts tutors.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is set to chair this year's English Heritage's Angel Awards, according to The Telegraph. The awards are set to take place in the Palace Theatre in October and celebrate efforts to restore buildings or monuments that are on English Heritage's Heritage at Risk register.

The long overdue London premiere of the Broadway musical The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd, directed by acclaimed West End and RSC director Ian Judge, and designed by three time Olivier Award winner Tim Goodchild, opens for a four week limited season at the Finborough Theatre on Tuesday, 7 June 2011 (Press Night: Thursday, 9 June 2011 at 7.30pm).
