The Los Angeles Jewish Symphony has announced a celebratory concert to commemorate the orchestra's 20th Anniversary on Sunday, September 7 at 7:30pm at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood. LAJS will be joined by award-winning and critically acclaimed pianist, actor, playwright, producer, and composer Hershey Felder, who has written an overture specifically for this occasion. With the anniversary concert, LAJS will be making its 11th consecutive appearance in the Ford Summer Partnership Concert Series.

Following the enormous success of the semi-staged performance of My Fair Lady at the Proms in 2012, John Wilson returns to perform Cole Porter's Tony Award-winning musical Kiss Me, Kate. Joining John Wilson and the John Wilson Orchestra, Broadway stalwarts Ben Davis, Alexandra Silber, Tony Yazbeck and West End star Louise Dearman lead the cast in an irreverent reworking of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew -- a play within a play. This is the BBC Proms debut for all four performers as they sing the energetic score in its original 1948 arrangement.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces Christmas in July, a special event being held during the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership's Market Square Farmer's Market on Thursday, July 17th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Pittsburgh.
Christmas in July promises an afternoon of entertainment and special offers as the holiday season arrives early in Pittsburgh. Featuring performances by cast members from IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, coming to the Benedum Center this November 18-23, and the CLO Mini Stars, the event is hosted by Ron Antill and Sara Lockard of the WISH 99.7 FM Morning Crew.

Work Light Productions, one of the nation's premiere producers of theatrical national tours, and IMG Artists, the industry's global leader in performing arts management, announced today the launch of new joint producing venture VOCALOSITY, a theatrical property comprised entirely of a cappella music, which will begin its North American tour on October 23, 2015 at the Curtis M. Phillips, M.D. Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The national tour will continue through the fall of 2015 and into the spring of 2016.

California Musical Theatre released casting for the remaining shows in the 64th Music Circus season, a roster of actors including Broadway veterans, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus seasons, as well as actors with Sacramento-area ties. The five-show season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion includes the Music Circus premiere of the beloved Disney classic Mary Poppins, which runs through July 13, as well as other Tony Award-winning shows including Rodgers and Hammerstein's lush South Pacific, Lerner and Loewe's mystical Brigadoon, Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein's hilarious La Cage aux Folles, and the singular sensation A Chorus Line, which ended its week-long run on June 29. Music Circus casting for the season is determined after auditions are held in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento.

Sound Theatre Company will launch into raunch and ruffles this summer with the Seattle premiere of The School for Lies by David Ives, co-directed by Teresa Thuman and Ken Michels. This saucy update of Moliere's The Misanthrope by Tony Award-nominated David Ives (Venus in Fur) stuffs contemporary off-color slang into the classic baroque farce, in which rivals scheme romance to expose a notorious cynic. A few cunning lies set party girl Celimene and acerbic wit Frank up for battle and sex. Misbehavior, gossip, glamour and scandal reign in this clowning burlesque written in rhymed couplets.

Annie Oakley, Buffalo Bill, Chief Sitting Bull, and Frank Butler will appear in Haven Academy of the Arts production of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, a musical with lyrics and music by Irving Berlin and a book by Dorothy Fields and her brother Herbert Fields. The family-friendly musical presents a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and her romance with sharpshooter Frank Butler.
