The second annual edition of 1st Irish, a five-week-long all-Irish theatre festival coordinated by Origin Theatre Company, runs from September 1 to October 4.

The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) continues its 21st Season with Cónal Creedon's AFTER LUKE and WHEN I WAS GOD, two potent plays exploring the fragile world of father/son relationships in contemporary Ireland. The production opened on Thursday, August 6, 2009 and has been extended through September 27, 2009. Tim Ruddy will direct.

Due to popular demand, Michael Puzzo's Lyric is Waiting, directed by Adam Fitzgerald, has been extended through August 29, 2009. Originally slated to close on August 22, 2009, this production began performances on July 30th, and officially opened on August 2nd at the Irish Repertory Theatre. Lyric is Waiting is presented by South Ark rep and kef productions.

John Douglas Thompson -- OBIE and Lucille Lortel Award-winning actor for last season's acclaimed revival of OTHELLO -- returns to Off-Broadway in the Irish Repertory Theatre's 2009-2010 season opener, THE EMPEROR JONES by Eugene O'Neill, with previews set to begin October 7, prior to its official press opening October 18 at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) in Manhattan.

The Irish Repertory Theatre and its guests, including Marian Seldes and Frances Sternhagen, celebrated last Thursday's Off-Broadway opening of Conal Creedon's AFTER LUKE and WHEN I WAS GOD -- two short plays, set in present-day Ireland, about the powerful bond between fathers and their sons -- at The Irish Repertory (132 West 22nd Street) in Manhattan.

Producers South Ark Stage and kef productions present LYRIC IS WAITING, written by Michael Puzzo and directed by Adam Fitzgerald. LYRIC IS WAITING begins performances Thursday, July 30 with an opening of Sunday, August 2.

Full casting was announced today for MEMPHIS, an original Broadway musical, opening Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Shubert Theatre (225 W. 44th Street) following critically-acclaimed and sold-out engagements at La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre.
