Founder and CEO of 'Hollywood in Vienna' Sandra Tomek is excited to welcome distinguished composer James Newton Howard as the guest of honor and recipient of the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award. The annual film music gala 'Hollywood in Vienna,' now in its eighth year, will take place tonight and tomorrow, October 15th and 16th, 2015 at the historic Wiener Konzerthaus (Vienna Concert Hall) in Vienna, Austria.

MediaRites' Theatre Diaspora, presents the last play of the 2015 season The Sound of a Voice by noted playwright, David Henry Hwang (best known for M. Butterfly, which received the 1988 Tony Award for Best Play and for Chinglish produced at Portland Center Stage)  on Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m at PCS. Playwright David Henry Hwang will join the audience for a Skype talk at the October 17th  2pm performance.

Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera gets its NY premiere as it kicks-off the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) this July. Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera has a concept, book and lyrics by Elizabeth Searle, music by Michael Teoli, and will be directed by David Alpert (If/ Then), with musical direction by Henry Aronson (Rock of Ages), and choreography by Marc Kimelman (A Bronx Tale). Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera will play at the PTC Performing Space (555 West 42nd St.) from tonight, July 9, through July 16, 2015.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is opening its doors for the six-hour marathon of FREE organ music with The Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ Day today, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Audiences of all ages are invited to explore 'Fred,' the largest mechanical action pipe organ in a concert venue in the United States, through a diverse line-up of programming tailored to include something for everyone.

A grand, meaningful and operatic evening of music awaits, as Music Director Carl St.Clair leads Pacific Symphony's final concert of his 25th anniversary season, "Fire and Water," a program representing the innovative and defining characteristics of the orchestra. Furthering St.Clair's commitment to new music, the evening includes the world premiere of "Siren Songs" by Laura Karpman, accompanied by video and animation by Tempe Hale, who has used footage from Gregory MacGillivray, Academy-Award nominated cinematographer of films such as "The Living Sea" and "Dolphins." Karpman's piece explores women and the ocean and is based on a set of poems by internationally known poet, Amy Gerstler, who is also a professor at UC Irvine. For the fiery finale, St.Clair leads the orchestra in selections from Wagner's epic "Gotterdammerung," ("Twilight of the Gods"), featuring Metropolitan Opera superstar, Deborah Voigt, who brings her beautiful and powerful voice to Brunnhilde's famous "Immolation Scene."

One of America's most versatile and prolific living composers, Andre Previn, joins Pacific Symphony as the honored guest and focus of the 15th American Composers Festival (ACF). Previn, who has been called one of America's least easily categorized musicians, began his remarkable career as a Hollywood "wunderkind" and a best-selling jazz pianist. Now 86, Previn has received four Academy Awards for his work in film, 10 Grammy Awards for his recordings (plus one more for his Lifetime Achievement), and he is also an honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He's held a series of major conducting posts, including the L.A. Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra, but now exclusively composes. The concert is led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, whose great admiration for the legend shaped this year's ACF to reveal the scope of Previn's prowess as a composer.

Alan Menken, who just boarded Broadway's HAPPY TRAILS creative team, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly today that he is also collaborating with David Zippel and Harvey Fierstein on a musical adaptation of MRS. DOUBTFIRE.

American tenor Jay Hunter Morris will replace Anthony Dean Griffey in Houston Grand Opera's world premiere production of A Christmas Carol, it was announced today by HGO Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers. Mr. Griffey has withdrawn for health reasons. The 90-minute opera, commissioned by HGO from composer Iain Bell and librettist Simon Callow, is written for a single singer performing the role of The Narrator. A Christmas Carol runs from tonight, December 5 through 21, 2014, at the Wortham Theater Center, and is suitable for ages 12 and up.
