Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is pleased to announce the East Coast premiere of Appropriate, an audacious comic drama written by native Washingtonian Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Liesl Tommy (Eclipsed). Jacobs-Jenkins' brazen reimagining of the classic Southern family drama will continue Woolly's season-long excavation of the secrets that lie beneath America's sunny exterior.

Detroit runs tonight, September 9, 2013 to October 6, 2013, with performances Tuesday-Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm and 8pm (September 14 at 8pm only), and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm (September 15 at 7pm only). Monday and Tuesday, September 9 and 10, will be Pay-What-You-Can performances and begin at 8pm.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company has announced the promotion of Miriam Weisfeld from Director of Artistic Development to Associate Artistic Director, an evolution reflective of Woolly's ongoing effort to unify its literary and production activities. In December 2012, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York awarded a $185K playwright residency grant to support a new full-time position at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company for playwright/director and Woolly Company Member Robert O'Hara, through December 31, 2015.

The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, proudly announces the commission of four podcast plays by DC-based playwrights, to be presented during its 2012 National Showcase of New Plays. Short works by Paige Hernandez, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Stephen Spotswood and Gwydion Suilebhan will be recorded onto iPod Shuffles and depart the Woolly Mammoth lobby in four directions - respectively, North, West, South and East - at all hours during the Showcase, November 29 - December 2.

Master playwright Edward Albee, the winner of three Pulitzer Prizes for drama and two Tony Awards, including a Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2005, will participate in a panel discussion October 1st as part of the final night of the 7th Annual Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts.
