Mary-Louise Parker, star of Roundabout Theatre Company's Hedda Gabler, will be interviewed on 'Regis and Kelly,' tomorrow, January 30th between 9:00-10:00AM on channel 7.
Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presents Tony? award winner Mary-Louise Parker (Hedda Gabler), Tony? award winner Michael Cerveris (Jorgen Tesman), Paul Sparks (Ejlert Lovborg) and Peter Stormare (Judge Brack) in a new Broadway production of Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. The production features a new adaptation by Christopher Shinn and is directed by Ian Rickson.
The works of Henrik Ibsen provide unique challenges for modern theater companies. This may be because of the complexities of his characters or the difficulties of getting an appealing translation of the playwright's original Norwegian prose. Happily the Roundabout Theater has faced both of these challenges and is currently presenting a compelling production of HEDDA GABLER at their elegant American Airlines Theater. Audiences realize they are about to witness something special when they see Hildegard Bechtler's atmospheric set bathed in the subtle and effective lighting of Natasha Katz. However, it is when Michael Cerveris makes his initial entrance that the audience realizes what an exceptional evening this HEDDA GABLER will be. Playing the intellectual writer Jorgen Tesman, Cerveris eschews a dour portrayal of an academic in favor of a character who is robust and certainly in love with his new bride, Hedda, who is stunningly portrayed in this version by Mary-Louise Parker. Cerveris' personal energy is immediately sensed by the audience and throughout the performance they could be detected sitting up or leaning forward whenever he was on stage. It is a masterful performance in every way and is met point-for-point by Ms. Parker. When these two actors are together on stage, the electricity is almost palpable.

Kristin Scott Thomas, the Olivier Award-winning star of the Royal Court Theatre's critically acclaimed production of Anton Chekhov's THE SEAGULL, will be interviewed tomorrow, Friday, October 24 on CBS's 'Early Show' and ABC's 'The View'.
While it's exceedingly doubtful that Kristin Scott Thomas' Madame Arkadina could play a 15-year-old, as she famously claims in Anton Chekhov's The Seagull, a 25-year-old may not exactly be out of her range. With a whimsical eccentricity, sprightly manner and a knockout figure, this centerpiece of Ian Rickson's Royal Court production - visiting the Walter Kerr with a mixed cast of Brits and Yanks - is the most youthful presence on stage. And unlike many fine actresses who have played the role looking much older than the character's stated 43 years, her Arkadina is not a faded stage star looking foolish as she clings to a long-lost youth, but the hot mom of a 25-year-old who has little intention of aging into an adult.
