Palma Mingozzi Releases THE ENTITLEMENT OF THE SOUL

S.W.A.N. Day Staten Island is a celebration honoring local women artists and their contributions to our community through their art forms. Located on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center, the highlights of the day included: Filmed Artist Interviews by Liz Marotti and Camille Schmoeker, Artist Exhibition, Motivational Speaking and Workshops led by Samantha Popp and Pamela Hernandez, Poetry and visual art by Palma Mingozzi as well as expanded programming for young girls (12-18) in several themed workshops-'Living Your Dreams', and a Special Women's Panel Discussion on the Arts.

PIANO SLAM Poetry Competition for Middle and High School Students Comes to the Arsht Center, 4/13

PIANO SLAM 8, an annual competition for writing poetry inspired by music for Miami-Dade County's middle and high school students, presents its 16 finalists for an exciting and engaging live performance at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, April 13th at 7:30pm. The mission of PIANO SLAM is to utilize music as a tool and motivation to give youth a voice and develop creative writing skills through artistic expression. 

Disney's NEWSIES Coming to Sacramento, 4/12-17

The Sacramento premiere of Disney's NEWSIES opens Tuesday, April 12 at 8:00 PM at the Community Center Theater for a limited engagement through Sunday, April 17. In Sacramento, NEWSIES will play Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:00 PM; Thursday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; Friday at 8:00 PM; Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM; and Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Cast Announced for Disney's NEWSIES National Tour Engagement at San Jose

Casting has been announced for the San Jose engagement of Disney's NEWSIES. The Tony Award-winning production will begin performances at the Center for the Performing Arts (255 Almaden Blvd.) on Tuesday, May 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, May 15.

Cast, Creatives Set for DEFERRED ACTION World Premiere at DTC

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the world-premiere of DEFERRED ACTION. A co-production with Cara Mia Theatre Co. and directed by Cara Mia's Artistic Director David Lozano, DEFERRED ACTION features company members from both DTC and Cara Mia. DEFERRED ACTION will begin previews with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Wednesday, April 20 and will run through Saturday, May 14. Press Opening will be Friday, April 29 at 8 p.m.

BWW Review: Theatre by the Blind's CHANGING FACES Will Open Your Eyes to Artistic Possibilities

CRE Outreach was incorporated in 2007, serving at-risk students, the visually impaired and military veterans through theater-based arts programs. Utilizing theater as a means to enhance self-esteem, encourage self-expression and empower individuals to overcome the challenges in their lives, CRE Outreach focuses on "transforming lives, one show at a time." So when I was invited to see Kelsey Wilk's new play "Changing Faces" as the 16th production of Theatre by the Blind directed by Greg Shane, I knew I was in for another mind-empowering experience.

Harlem Stage to Present 17th Edition of E-MOVES, 4/7-9

Harlem Stage is pleased to present the seventeenth edition of their acclaimed dance series E-Moves. This year Harlem Stage has commissioned four evolving choreographers to create exciting new collaborative works with musicians and visual artists. This year's choreographers include Davalois Fearon, Desiree Godsell, Jason Samuels Smith and Laurie M. Taylor.To further support the development of the commissioned works, Harlem Stage has paired each of the artists with a mentor uniquely positioned to provide guidance and insight. This year's mentors are Ted Louis Levy, who is working with Samuels Smith; Nia Love, who is working with Fearon; Edisa Weeks, who is working with Taylor; and Marya Wethers, who is working with Godsell.
