LA/LA Announces Free Public Launch Party 9/14 in Grand Park

Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA (PST: LA/LA) announced a free, daylong party for the public in downtown L.A.'s Grand Park on Thursday, September 14, 2017, to celebrate the arrival of PST: LA/LA. The party runs from noon to 10pm and features music, food, drink, activities, giveaways, and a chance to plan an itinerary for Southern California's largest arts experience.

First Full U.S. Staging of Dvorak's DIMITRIJ to Open at Bard SummerScape

Opening next Friday, July 28, Bard SummerScape presents the long overdue American staged premiere of Dimitrij (1882). Set to a libretto by Marie Cervinkova-Riegrova, one of the relatively few 19th-century women to contribute to the genre, Antonín Dvorák's grand opera is rarely produced outside the Czech Republic, and only received its U.S. concert premiere more than a century after its composition.

BWW Review: LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR at Crosby Theatre, Santa Fe Opera

On July 21, 2017, Santa Fe Opera presented Ron Daniels' production of Gaetano Donizetti's bel canto work, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR. Beginning with a storm and several huge rainbows, the open sides of Santa Fe Opera's Crosby Theatre allowed the audience to watch the sun set as the orchestra played the opera's overture. Based on Sir Walter Scott's novel, THE BRIDE OF LAMMERMOOR, the opera tells the story of a young woman who loses her reason when forced to marry a man she does not love.

Five Sopranos Reunite for John Gallagher's SARAH Q

The Sopranos stars Tony Sirico (“Paulie Walnuts”), Frank Vincent (“Phil Leotardo”), Vincent Pastore (“Big Pussy”), Federico Castelluccio (“Furio”) and William DeMeo (“Jason Molinaro”) reunite in director John Gallagher's new feature film Sarah Q. Written by Gallagher (The Deli, Blue Moon, The Networker) and Joe Benedetto (Hide the Sausage), the movie is described as a seriocomic tale of a young girl's struggle to succeed as an actor at a Manhattan conservatory.

Goodman Theatre Holds Free Student-Performed Showcases for its Summer Youth Programs

More than 60 Chicagoland teenagers will perform in two final showcases at Goodman Theatre to conclude the theater's summer programming-Playbuild Youth Intensive and Musical Theater Intensive-on August 11 and 12 at 7pm. Both programs were offered free of charge and taught over a course of seven-to-eight weeks in the Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement ("the Alice"). This year's theme, "What it Means to be an American," uses Langston Hughes' poem "I too, Sing America" as inspiration. The final performances are scheduled for Friday, August 11 and Saturday, August 12 at 7pm at Goodman Theatre (170 N. Dearborn). Pala'a Latin American Seafood Opens In Ardmore With Arepas, Patacone, Ceviches, Tartares And Chupe

Ardmore Initiative is pleased to welcome the newest addition to Ardmore's restaurant scene, Pala'a, a Latin American seafood restaurant. Cira Ferreira, Levi Hernandez, and Ivan Brcek's new BYO is located at 18 West Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore. Pala'a specializes in ceviches, tartares, chupe, arepas and patacone. Sides, housemade juices and desserts are also available. Reflecting the focus on seafood, the dining room is playfully and vibrantly decorated with graphics of azure Venezuelan beaches and brightly colored beach chairs. Order at the front counter and enjoy a cup of papelon, a refreshing lime drink, as you wait for your food. Pala'a is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every Tuesday through Sunday.

Photo Flash: First Look at TEMPLE OF SOULS at NYMF

MULTISTAGES, in association with Dr. Judy Kuriansky and Jane Velez-Mitchell, is pleased to present a first look at  the award-winning musical, TEMPLE OF THE SOULS, co-written by poet Anita Velez-Mitchell, platinum-winning composers Dean Landon and Anika Paris,  and MultiStages Artistic Director Lorca Peress. Peress also helmed the production, with musical direction by Bruce Baumer, choreography by Enrique Brown, and visual design by Obie-winner Jan Hartley. TEMPLE OF THE SOULS is currently playing a limited engagement as part of the New York Musical Festival at Off-Broadway's The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd St., NY, NY 10036). Performances began last night  Wednesday, July 19 and continue until Sunday, July 23.
