Hans Wegner, Axel Christiansen Sell High in Kaminski Auction

On Sunday, January 12, 2014 Kaminski Auctions of Beverly, Massachusetts held a high quality 20th Century Modern Design auction. The sale achieved an approximate sell-through rate of seventy percent, while displaying a steady rhythm of strong hammer prices. Bidders showed great enthusiasm on the floor, on the phones and particularly through several online bidding platforms.

Amon Carter Museum of American Art Opens HOTEL TEXAS Exhibition Today

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art will exhibit the artworks installed in the president's suite at the Hotel Texas during his visit to Fort Worth in 1963. On view from today, October 12, 2013, through January 12, 2014, Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy is presented in association with the Dallas Museum of Art, which organized the exhibition.

Hauser & Wirth Developing L.A. Art Space with Paul Schimmel

Hauser & Wirth is pleased to announce that internationally acclaimed curator and scholar Paul Schimmel has been named a partner of the gallery. Schimmel joins Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth and Marc Payot in leading an enterprise founded over 20 years ago. Described by The Financial Times as 'a marketplace of ideas', Hauser & Wirth has locations in Zurich, London and New York. Its program focuses upon significant contemporary artists and includes historical surveys and thematic group exhibitions that advance new dialogues about art. The gallery represents over 50 established and emerging contemporary artists, as well as the estates of Eva Hesse, Allan Kaprow, Josephsohn, Lee Lozano, Jason Rhoades, Dieter Roth, Philippe Vandenberg and the Henry Moore Family Collection.

New Museum Presents First NY Solo Exhibit by Phyllida Barlow, On View Now thru 7/15

The New Museum presents the first New York solo exhibition of the work of British sculptor Phyllida Barlow. For her New Museum presentation, Barlow has created a new, site-specific sculptural installation in the Museum's fourth floor gallery. This exhibition is part of a series focusing on a single project or body of work within an artist's larger practice. The series began last May with presentations by Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Gustav Metzger. "Phyllida Barlow: Siege" is on view from May 3-July 15, 2012, and is curated by Gary Carrion-Murayari, Curator.

Donald Baechler Print Released as Vera List Art Project 50th Anniversary Celebration Commission

The Lincoln Center Vera List Art Project celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012. It was established in 1962 by philanthropists Vera and Albert List as a way to both support the visual arts and raise funds for Lincoln Center. Since the inception of the program, Lincoln Center has commissioned more than 125 major artists of the time to create works available for sale to the public.

Lincoln Center Launches 50th Anniversary Celebration At The Starr Theater 5/11

Today, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts officially launches a yearlong celebration of its 50th Anniversary with a commemorative ceremony in the Starr Theater at Alice Tully Hall. Hosted by renowned journalist and author Tom Brokaw, the program pays tribute to the many achievements and contributions of Lincoln Center, from the milestones of its past half century to the transformation of its campus.

New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert, acclaimed violinist Itzhak Perlman with alumni from The Perlman Music Program, Tony Award-winning opera star Paulo Szot, jazz icon Wynton Marsalis with members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and The Juilliard Orchestra are among those scheduled to perform in a program that celebrates the past 50 years and looks to the next generation of Lincoln Center's artists and audiences. In the audience of this private event will be elected officials, performing artists, civic and community representatives, and leaders from all 12 Lincoln Center resident organizations.

Lincoln Center Announces Series of Events Surrounding 50th Anniversary Celebration

Lincoln Center announced today an exciting series of artistic and educational events and initiatives to celebrate its forthcoming 50th anniversary, officially beginning with a ceremony to commemorate the institution's original groundbreaking in 1959 and ending with a campus-wide open house. The anniversary celebration coincides with the physical transformation of Lincoln Center, designed to make the campus a more open, accessible and vibrant urban destination. Ribbon cuttings will be held throughout the year as redevelopment projects are completed.
